    I had never caught one either, so when I saw it come out of the water I hesitated on what with it for about 30 seconds. Just looked at it dangling on my line and was like; “daaaa fuq is this thing?” Lol

    You hitting clear lake if the the weather permits later this week? I think I’m going to try for trout through the ice this weekend.

    Made the trip up to the Sierras for some ice fishing today. Unfortunately I hit a cold/snow front this morning which seemed to keep the fish uninterested in my jigs. Had a few show up on my fish finder, but would follow my jig and then swim away.... not usually what they do out there. Was fun either way!

    Awesome! I grew up in Iowa and ice fished as often as I could when I lived out there.

    This is my second year ice fishing in CA and love it so far. Really trying to get a big brown and/or lake trout through the ice this year. A plus for ice fishing out here too is that even if you dont get a fish, the views are primo- couldn’t really say that about fishing in the Midwest. Lol
