The only people hating on drums are the 15th story San Francisco apartment dwelling car journalists who don't own personal vehicles.. they take mass transit and uber everywhere, or some dorky electric scooter created by some fly by night hipster startup company.

This is simple. I wanted sliders as well. So I kept parking next to Taco's with Predator steps any time I could. She finally asked why those Tacoma's had steps and mine didn't. I said I would take care of it right away, and did! She did ask why they were not as low as the predators, which I didn't have a good answer too until I saw someone with a broken off step. Parked next to them on her side. She actually saw and said now she understood why it wasn't lower. Patience.

Edit - Sorry, didn't realize this devolved into another drum brake discussion.

Congrats on the sliders! Also, a pair of thick socks help keep your feet warm when they stick out of the blanket on the couch at night. ;)

The only other vehicle in Toyota's North American lineup with drums is the Yaris. It's a cost cutting measure.

I had a wife that truly believed "I can't be overdrawn, i still have checks left".

Best present she ever gave me was a divorce (with no alimony, only got 1/2 equity in house). Now she is engaged to her h.s. sweetheart. He has to be batchit crazy to be involved with her again.. but gladly not my problem.

Current g.f. asked why I was getting mobtowns. So I told her it was cuz I wanted them and to support a local business. Her response "oh, ok". When I got stuck on the property I hunt on (didn't have traction boards with me). She asked "why don't you get a winch?". Haven't done that YET.

Yawn... scathing... Are you actually going to make a legitimate rebuttal or just make a quick quip for likes..

I stand by what I said, options 2 and 3 are more or less 1 foot in and 1 foot out.. a lot easier to get a divorce when finances are already separate, which gives a small insight of why the divorce rate is so high... If we actually examine it a bit further using something I like to call intellect, it’s also is a good representation of today/present society. If something doesn’t work, throw it away and buy a new one. Nothing is built to last, including marriages. Something is tough and I don’t succeed at first, I give up and move onto something new.. Everyone gets a trophy.. the days of hard work and pulling yourself up by your bootstraps are over. We’ve allowed these mega corporations/governments to desensitize our entire country and turn us into a bunch of entitled narcissistic brats. Everyone in this country thinks because they were born they are entitled to a good life and when they find out that not everything is given, they turn outwards and blame others instead of looking into the mirror. /endofsoapbox

Obviously, theres always an exception to the rule. I’m glad your marriage works for you. Cheers to another 20.

I have drum brakes all the way around and typically weigh in at 72,000 pounds. My life and the lives of others depend on them to work each and every time that I need them to work. Nothing wrong with drum brakes.

Actually, divorce rates are down...unless you are 55 and older. The new generation, the one you say is lazy or just throw things away are making things work and not running off and getting married to “whomever” because a clock is ticking. Oops.

1980 was the height of the divorce rate of 22.9% and 2017 was at 16.1%.

I always find it funny how many people think the generations that follow them are total morons.

My Dad said the same thing about my generation (gen x). I smile, answer him “yes sir” even to this day. Hopefully, I have learned an important lesson from this man and not assume anything.

We are option 3 but it doesn’t matter, I swapped the seats to leather and did a 3 inch lift with sliders at the same time and she still hasn’t noticed.....

"A better number to zero in on, other than the 3.2 per 1,000 people, is this: The divorce rate dropped 18% between 2008 and 2016. That's according to a recent study on divorce rates by Philip N. Cohen of the University of Maryland. Even when Cohen adjusted for demographic shifts, like the age when people get married, he found an 8% drop. No matter how he studied the data, he writes, "the regression models show no increase in adjusted divorce odds at any age."

And while no age group is seeing an increase in divorce rates, the decline has been pinned to Millennials, who have some trends working in their favor. Cohen notes that members of that generation wait longer to get married, and are more established and stable when they do, leading to fewer divorce risks. A generally accepted view of cohabitation before marriage doesn't hurt, either — the Pew Research Center reports that the number of cohabitating partners has increased 29% since 2007."

You stop with this common sense and using facts and stuff bruh.

Divorce rates are down because they can’t afford to divorce. It’s like quitting your job, people hop jobs when they are confident. When times get tough they hunker down and hang tough.

I understand that you most likely “googled” divorce rate and looked at the first website you saw or graph and are now trying to regurgitate that as factual information, but I’d strongly advise you to instead of thinking you know how to read a graph or look at a statistic, and then make a factual statement, to do a little more digging and actually look at the methodology of how they came to that conclusion and then come back to me and make a coherent argument.

A little research before posting does go a long way.

If you get any grief, you can always remind her that insurance deductibles are probably more expensive than the sliders were.

I decided to wait an extra month to save up some money before buying sliders. This happened a few weeks later at a gas station...

Total cost was $6700 to repair.

Sliders were installed 2 days after I got it back from the shop.

I don't know about that. When I got out of the military I job hopped chasing money. It was not about being confident, it was about helping myself. Now that I have found a great paying job for a wonderful company, I have hunkered down and stayed with them for 8 years now. Times are not tough for us. I have been married for 22 years and we got married at a young age, but we knew it was meant to be. It's a good story of how we met, it involves me and her best friend, but I won't get into details here. :)

Agreed, your biggest raises come from changing companies.....Why stick around when you can make more elsewhere, its the fiscally smart move to make for yourself and your family.
