yup that steep section was insane. the second the taco started slidding going down the hill. i knew that "i f$#ed up. hahaha.. it was scary as hell. then my wife kept going sarcastic on me until she realized that we are truly stuck. hehe...

i was about to call Winders Towing... not sure you have seen his channel on youtube.

 

i wrote it as "MUD" AND "MUDD" in different areas to make sure i dont get hate on it hahaha and i still do.

maybe a stick that collects the samples of the terrain under you, you insert it in the ground then plug it back in the car.


there is a video on youtube showing some pimped out tacoma crawling downhill with no driver inside. i also dont get the point.

anyway i'm not an OR experienced guy, the trail was supposed to be an easy fire road and the road seemed dry. but to my luck, that section was shit.

 

they always do it's normal and I totally expected it.

It was very scary for us especially with children with us and temperatures in the 20's - .

you cant change the internet but you can do selective reading/hearing

 

Next time instead of Crawl, put it in MTS and use the Mud setting. It will keep wheel speeds high while still giving traction to the wheels that need it. I find MTS to be much more useful than crawl control. Only time I've used crawl was to test it in loose sand.

 

i did try MTS settings in the video. i tried hi and low and different settings, i show that in the clip. it did not help.
it was just too looose

 

I believe that video is to demonstrate an insane amount of reduction gearing installed.

 

If you made it up in just 4LO, then MTS would have definitely worked..

you know, It sucks for all the young crowd who would be affected by bullies .... i'm already too old for this shit and it does not affect me. it's just sad that everyone talks about bullying prevention and they still do it anyway especially when it comes from people who never took their truck offroad alone in a new state etc etc... they probably have "garage princess trucks".

 

Well, OP, glad you have a sense of humor...we've probably all done things like this where you get to a point, then decide to check our sanity, followed by a bit of panic.

Fortunately, all went well and you got out pretty unscathed (except for a bit of rubbing here). Anyways, I am glad for you that you made it out.

 

Man, I was at Little Moab the other day and going up some rock when it was snowy and getting icy. I was in 4low, kept bumping it, flooring, little gas etc. COULD NOT GET UP. I turned on crawl control and it got me up first try no effort I was actually pretty amazed. Not a gimmick if you have good tires and traction!

 

Exactly, this is a tire failure, not a crawl control failure. From the screenshot the hill doesn't even look all that bad that was giving him issues.
