I'd get the compressor and add a tank to make a good OBA setup. locker would do much better than nothing. just remember that unlike your LSD, this will be only selectable

If you mount the compressor so it's solid then you won't have any problems. I have the small compressor for my front locker and haven't had any problems with the compressor.

There's so many things you can do.....

For now, I would get the ARB air compressor to go with the ARB. You can slap that thing anywhere and get your ARB's working immediately without having to do other/extra modifications. Then - later on, down the road...you can spend time researching on on-board air setups & tanks. My husband and I used an ARB compressor for a couple years (operating 2 ARB's) before we put an on-board air setup on the jeep. Bouncing around is fine if you mount the compressor to a sturdy surfac. Not sure about the sand - might need to call ARB and ask them about external filters (or whatever they recommend).

ARB's are frigin awesome. When they're installed properly they'll last you for years. Ours worked flawlessly for 8 years (we sold the jeep) The air lines to/from the solenoids/compressor/diffs were routed in such a way that there wouldn't be any problems with kinking or breakage. And we never had any problems. We always carried spare air lines, fittings, and couplings 'just in case'.

Do some research.... Auto lockers (If I understand what you're asking) are also called Lunchbox lockers. They keep the diffs locked at all times. They're cheap. They have strange 'on road' driving characteristics, can pop & bang while driving. They replace the spider gears and you do not need to have a regear done.

Do some research about the AUSSIE Locker. It's probably one of the best operationg lunchbox locker and the toyota guys love it.

Thank you. There's a filter on the compressor that you can replace or clean out. I have mine mounted in the engine bay behind the fuse box. I haven't had any problem with clogged filters or anything. I also jump my truck here and there and haven't had any problems with the compressor. It's mounted pretty solid and isn't going anywhere.

I have this compressor for the front locker and a CO2 tank for everything else.

Did you look at Aussie Locker or Powertrax Locrite?

Never heard of them being illegal. Guys run them all the time on the street. It's a locker on a budget. Some guys swear by them and don't mind their 'street characteristics'. TTORA has gotta have guys with either Aussie or Locrite.

an on board air compressor is awesome, ive got arb front and rear lockers on my ford and with an on board air compressor i have air whenever i want, if i have to air down for sand then i can and air right back up no problem. I have the plug for my air compressor hose mounted to my rear bumper so its easy to get too

GM segment-exclusive automatic locking rear differential gives power to the wheel that has traction.

that's what the chevy site says, but doesnt say how it's accomplished

alot of chevys have auto lockers (made by eaton) in the rear end. ive had two chevy trucks with auto lockers...

ive been thinking about getting a locrite myself. Cheap and reliable just scared of the streetability. But for $250 bucks it might be worth a shot
