6112's with ADS

    Has anybody ran this setup? Thinking about 650 coils with 6112 in the front. ADS rears with dakars. No extra weight on the front (yet), not usually extra weight in the bed except for camping or hunting gear. 70% highway 30% Forest service and two track desert/washboard. ADS worth the extra $ in the rear?

    I understand that but I'm wondering if anyone has done this and how this setup would be.

    If you end up doing this let me know. Makes sense to me.
    It’s a lot easier to pull off the rear shocks to get serviced and keep a quality Bilstein setup in the front. I’m even considering doing a block and ADS in the rear. From what mechanics are telling me, a block is a much better route than AAL.

    I haven't decided anything yet, still debating. However if it were me and I was spending the money for ADS I wouldn't cheap out on a block and go with a new set of springs.

    Bilstein and Icon utilize digressive shock valving while ADS, Fox, King, etc utilize a progressive shock valving. Don't mix valving curves, you'll get wank ass ride dynamics over bumps. If you want to mix and match, Billy front and Icon rear but even then, mixing different brands could be totally different curves, even if they are the same digressive/progressive trend.

    one of my Bilstein 6112 is leaking terribly after 40k miles so either you can entirely replace a 6112 when you rebuild your other brand rears, or match brands all the way around and rebuild/replace together as sets of 4. Mixing will not save you any labor or service.

    That makes sense.
    At this moment in time, I’m leaning toward Bilstein all around with the 5160 in the rear.

    For the price, 6112/5160 is hard to beat. They aren't a 2500 dollar set by any means but they are worlds better than 500-1000 dollar sets.

    After I get over the cool factor of The premium brands, I really have to wonder if I actually need the $2500+ dollar set. The more I ask and read, the more the Bilstein set up seems appropriate and still an upgrade from factory.
