This started a couple weeks ago. We got hit pretty hard with snow recently so I've been unable to get underneath the hood and figure out what it is. Sounds to me like it's coming from the idler pulley or A/C compressor area, but it almost seems too slow of a rattle noise for it to be a bad pulley. When I take it out park and the rpms drop, it gets quieter. I can hear it at lower speeds but not when I get up past around 25mph. Any ideas?

Radiator fan shroud? You could inspect each pulley by hand after you remove your belt, check each for binding. Check your radiator mounts and see if your fan or fan shroud has shifted. That's my couch guess.

I didn't even think about the fan. I'm going to get in there this weekend and check it all, I appreciate it!

Figured out the issue. This pulley has some side to side movement I can feel without even taking the belt off. Now to find a new bearing or replacement pulley. Should be fun since they don't make the superchargers anymore :(

Hi, I just have the same issue on my 2011 tacoma, I found the ball bearing of that idler pulley totally loose and cannot find the spare part, since the bearing replacement is no more an option, where did you get yours? Do you have any picture of the idler, and the right BB position, I mean, How deep it goes into the pulley?

So good news is, I found a place to buy the pulley. Bad news is, the pulley costs just over $200 ordering it from Toyota.. You may be able to find an aftermarket one somewhere else for cheaper. I was tired of searching and listening to the constant annoying rattling noise, so I bit the bullet and just order one. If you order the one I got from Toyota, the bearing and snap ring are already seated in the pulley and it's ready to go. If you get one without the bearing, it should seat all the way inside the pulley, enough to put the snap ring in.

My belt was getting pretty bad so I replaced that too. If you need a new one, I found them on Underdog Racing Development for $30 including shipping. I installed it all last week and it's good as new. I'll post the links for both below. Hope this helped!

Thanks a lot RedRider133, it will help a lot if I cannot find the cheaper option. About the belt, it need's replacement, it should be the second since installed, and urdusa.com is also the site I was looking into. Did you try with www.superchargersonline.com?

Can you ID the bearing that's in the pulley? If so. You can probably find a Nachi replacement and just press the new one in and save a ton of money

Yes, I already found all the 5 ball bearings for the SC pulleys, they are 5 KOYO 63032RSCM (ø47mm x ø17mm x 14mm) and 1 KOYO 62032RSCM (ø40mm x ø17mm x 12mm). The smaller BB goes into the lower smooth idler pulley (C3 in the SC installation manual) They all went for less than $40 at a bearings store, but there was a problem with the Ribbed Pulley we are talking about, the BB had a lot of play inside the pulley, so I had to machine it in order to install a bigger BB (ø50mm x ø17mm x 16mm). As you can see it's 3mm bigger and 2mm thicker than the factory. I had to find also a bigger retainer and machine the groove as well. Now I need to check how to deal with the thickness difference and alignment of the pulley to the others. Anyway, that will solve the issue until I find the complete pulley replacement for a cheaper price. I'm still waiting for www.supercargersonline.com to give me an option. Here is the final result after I installed the bigger BB into the machined pulley.

Thanks for this! I was on the phone with the dealership and the couldn't figure out/find the part number for that pulley. Sucks it's still $230 shipped, but I had a similar noise as OP's video, also 83k miles on the truck, so it needed to get replaced.
