Thinking bout going up to Boston for the weekend, not familiar with the city. Where’s the best area to stay in? Was reading Back Bay is kinda the midway between everything and is a good part of Boston to stay for first time visitors. Any pointers/advice is greatly appreciated!

I’m sure the guys that live and work in/near the city will chime in but if you’ve got the cash, The Bostonian Hotel is supposed to be very nice. It’s right next to Quincy Market and all of the downtown attractions. A short walk up Hanover Street and you’re in Cannoli heaven.

What’s the reason for the visit? Just to wander the city or do you have something specific in mind? Staying in the city is very expensive but, if you’re going to do it, Back Bay is nice as are the places around the North End. To explore the city, there are Duck Boat tours (those will kill a few hours and I believe you have to make an appointment ahead of time) or you can walk the freedom trail at your own pace and see a lot of the historic landmarks of the city. Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market are fun to hang around for shopping and food (and night life), the Back Bay Area has a lot of fun shops and bars as well (much higher end shopping around back bay if that’s what you want). If you have something specific in mind, please let me know and I can make a recommendation. I’m not a native Bostonian but have come to get the know the city since I moved here and have worked all over the city and found good eats and entertainment.

    Story goes like this:
Driving to work down 95 South just past exit 13. Feel like I need to push gas harder to keep speed. Feel like I need to hold steering wheel slightly left. Realize I'm probably losing air somewhere. Tire blows out immediately after. I pull off to side of highway. Police officer comes up and orders a tow off the highway.

The tow guy said I probably ran over a nail that went clean through, causing the leak, and driving on that made it go boom.

We are staying at the Westin Copley Place. I was looking at that hotel initially but ended up picking on in Back Bay. Thank you for the info!

    First off, Thank you!
Reason is my GF works in the Wedding industry and never has weekends off, finally she does and Bostons only a little more than 4 hours from us so basically a weekend getaway to wander/learn about the city, take a tour or two, and see some cool things Boston has to offer. Hotel fees are at no cost to me (Thankfully), as a gift I got from my boss for Christmas. So we are staying at The Westin Copley Place in Back Bay. Got a fat corner room that hopefully has some cool city views. I definitely plan to walk some of if not all of the freedom trail depending on weather. Would also like to check out the Museum of Fine Arts, and Skywalk Observatory, as well as walk around the Quincy Market.

Thank you! Will definitely look into those places for food. I am very known to get Hangry!

I work for the AV company that works in that hotel. Great area to check out!. Lots places to eat at and drink! Salty Pig is a great spot by the way and right around the corner from the hotel. Guided tours are good to do to get some history of the city. I actually did the tea party museum once and it was actually pretty good. I recommend doing that if you go towards the waterfront area.

Actually the Waterfront area is where there is a ton of new places to check out. If you like seafood the Barking Crab is another spot that is good to go even though it can be a little pricey.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas for things to do.
