Hell yeah my dude. Batteries HATE heat and they also HATE freezing temperatures. There seems to be a fine equilibrium these things like to live in for a better chance at a long life.

Yuuuuup. Mine lasts about 2 to 2-1/2 years too. Gotta love Az.

Ooooh. I like that...looks sturdier and less to snag than my Airflow.

Yeah, I've been binging Australia 4wd action and most of those guys run one. Only problem is that nobody is making them stateside, and Most of the Oz venders don't make one for the Taco. But there's one effing place that sources them here in Colorado (Sloop Imports) and he just got a couple. He mostly outfits the turd gens. Don't ask me what I paid for it, it's embarrassing, lol.

If any of you lot out there that knows how do mandrel bends, I bet you could find some business out there....just saying.

No particular reason other than it's steel, more resistant to dings. It's not heavy either, maybe 8 lbs? My girl is already on the heavy side with steel front and rear bumpers so I'm not too worried about it. Plus, I don't think they offered it in aluminum.

That works for me, I’ll reach out to you tomorrow.

Battery didn’t have a stamp on it based on the sticker I see:3D494BAA-D5C2-4C92-A584-550D91BCFF56.jpg

I’ll see if there’s a month stamp under the hold down. I just noticed it said 84 month warranty on the battery as well.

Just so we are all on the same page: Saturday morning I went to Big Bear (smaller version of Lake Tahoe) to do some off-roading in the snow, had zero issues the entire day. I go to the gym Sunday morning and I hear a click right before the trucked turned over, but didn’t hesitate to start. Thought nothing of it but I did keep my music off just in case I heard another sound. I get to the gym to work out for about 2 hours, jump into the truck and it’s just straight dead, no clicks or anything.

I come back later that night to jump start the truck, it struggled to start at first but within 5 seconds it started. I drive the truck home and let the truck sit for about 30 minutes, turned the truck off and I go to lock it, the truck doesn’t lock or make a beep. Tried to start it and nothing. A few hours later I’m getting ready to leave my lady’s house, I jump start it again and zero issues, starts right up. I drive about 20 minutes, stopped to get gas. Again the truck needs to get jump started.

Thinking nothing of it, I jump started the truck this morning thinking it was dead, but now I think of it, I should of tried starting it first to see if it was dead. Anyways, I get to work, ask my boss about it and he said well put a voltmeter. A few hours go by and we walk out to the truck and it just happens to be inter cooler pump going off, he says that’s the problem, I guess that was his quick diagnosis. He unplugs the pump, puts the voltmeter and it reads 12v, has me start the truck and it reads 14v. I did not jump start the truck at this moment.

I’m no mechanic so I don’t understand how the truck was suddenly charged? And it doesn’t make sense to me how unplugging the pump would help anything. When I first started the truck after the gym, I checked to see if I left any lights on but I didn’t, so that’s out of the equation. Thoughts?

Too many odd factors. You need to have the battery properly tested, it is possible you have an intermittent cell short, that is enough to be issues in itself. The battery has to be ruled out first before you move on to further diagnosing the issue.

Was going to start tearing apart the truck with my brother but thinking I am going to give it a go myself as I don't have time to head down to his shop. Who is in the bay area if I need a hand thats installed the S/C or exhaust cam gears? A couple of you have already offered insight @12TRDTacoma and @Roostfactor to name a couple but seeing if anyone is close by in case I need a hand. Install does not seem to bad but also planning smaller quick change setup, fuel pump, bigger injectors, cam gears and a a few other things.

Pull it out and bring it to autozone or similar. They will try to charge and test it for free.

If you don't have means of testing it yourself take it to Vatozone and they'll test it for free as previously mentioned. Bear in mind, however, that a test back indicating good is not the be all end all of testing. I had a battery that was recently replaced brand new by Nissan themselves that was testing out with flying colors but was intermittently shorting out on its own out of nowhere. We replaced the battery as a just in case to test it and all the odd problems it had ceased to exist from that point forward. Customer took the vehicle to get it's battery replaced under warranty ultimately but I felt good knowing we took care of him despite the fact that he took it in for warranty. He was happy with us, and I was happy for him and all ends well. Customer service above all else.

Anyways long story short if there is any doubts pick up a temp battery and recheck your issues. If they persist we can officially rule the battery out and move forward with the process.

I have not even installed my own exhaust fan gears yet and I am relatively far from you, time in general due to my schedule does not really permit me coming down out that way to lend a hand, but if you need me for anything you know how to reach me! I wish you were closer man. I would swing by and give you a hand real quick!

Speaking of batteries. My 4 year old yellow top never sits above 12V. It tends to sit around 11.6V which makes me very nervous to rewrite any tunes. If I run it for a bit- I can get 12.6V but it won't hold it for long. Am I due to get a new battery?

I will be around to offer insight for both but no hands. I just did cam gears and headers. The SC was about 25K ago. Not too long, I remember it well. I also have the instructions to reference. Shoot a PM or call. I will send my number.

do you have a voltage booster? one of the little fuses underhood can be replaced with one. it allows our charging systems to fully charge deep cycle batteries. mine sits at almost 14v at start. question answered;)
