Received and installed my SaBellCo tailgate lock today. Didn't realize how easy the tailgate came off until I tried it myself! I could have gone with hose clamps or something else, but this piece looked pretty and I couldn't help it. Thanks to @scleaf!

 

Hmmm, I'll have to think about that. I don't want to run nothing in the mean time

Check out Demello off-road then. Theirs are exceptionally engineered.

 

I'm confused about this photo. The wire isn't stripped and the seal isn't in the insulation crimp, but the it looks like it's crimped.

The wire is stripped, it's inserted into the pin (you can barely see it), but the pin isn't crimped to the copper wire where I think it is supposed to be crimped at, and it appears that the orange seal was forgotten to be installed first. I guess a person could crimp it first and slide the seal onto the wire from the wires opposite end last - but why would it be done that way?

 

Isn't it supposed to be crimped like this?

Also, although I don't have the book in front of me, I'm 99.9% sure that per IPC-620, not having the seal crimped into the insulation crimp area is a defect, no matter what class of products you are building to.

 

You can, and I've read that it will prevent you from having to bend the sheet metal. However, if the nut ever works its way off the bolt, the whole bolt can slide out. Installing the bolt in the same manner as the factory one will prevent the bolt from falling out should the nut ever come off. You know, safety reasons.

Now I see why you are looking for a front door. In the meantime, take the inner door cover off and pop out the major dent.

I've heard that they work. Can also use the spare tire.
