Their white color is awesome it’s a big reason all my other lighting is BD but it doesn’t mean much for a light that underperforms otherwise.

Indeed, I’m excited to get my SS3 yellow pros and equally excited for them to release individual lenses so I can get the 4k.

Thanks for the response. The thing is that during the entire drive each way I had the fogs turned on and the moisture was still present. It wasn't just fog either. There were water droplets on the inside of the lens. They finally dried up this morning, but I'm afraid if this keeps happening the inside will develop mildew.

Diode Dynamics responded to me on the SS3 pod specific thread about buying the lenses separately. They said the individual lenses would be for sale on their site in about two weeks as soon as they were caught up. See post #24 and 25 on the thread below. This is just what they told me anyways. Fingers crossed.

only ones I’ve seen are what DD posted, I already know I don’t like 6000k and up so I went with 2 sets of yellow and I’ll switch one to clear to get 4000k. Would be really nice if this was an option they offered because from the sounds of it lenses won’t be cheap.

So @crashnburn80 if you *had* to pick between the KC Amber fogs and the Diode Dynamics fogs in yellow "pro" version, would you say you'd go with the DDs, just based on what you've seen online and without having a set of your own to test?

I have a hastily ordered pair of the KCs coming today, and just want to see what the pro says before I slap a return label on the package.

    Thanks in advance

For anyone who is still considering. Here is a wall shot with the BD SAE’s. The beam cuts at about 3ft high.

I installed a set of SAE fog pods from Speed Demon that look exactly like, and probably come from the same Chinese factory, as these:

    kloUWo43R%i1hXLz9o5cgg.jpg

After half a year I couldn't be more pleased. Normally I avoid buying Chinese pods but my local dealer had them in stock when I needed to quickly replace a set of dead, almost decade, old Rigid pods before a long road trip to Moab. The cutoff on the pods seems very good, I never get flashed by oncoming drivers with them on, and the light provided seems fantastic. My only wish is that they were amber for better results in heavy dust and fog but as is they are far better than what I expected for about $100 spent. Ideally I would of bought the KC fogs since they seem to put out slightly more light but for a quick replacement these will stay until the truck rots or the lights die.

My Diode Dynamics fogs are in the mail so I'll have a better data based comparison soon. But based on specs and color I would go with the DD Selective Yellow. The amber G4s are a nice product, but the amber output lacks the intensity of the competing selective yellow products. Selective yellow provides greater intensity output and better contrast for improved visibility while offering similar poor weather performance benefits of long wavelength light.

Those are surprisingly high in output at a very reasonable cost with great cut offs. (Covered in the original post for others). Do they say 'Nova' stamped on the lens? Nova Auto is a Chinese LED maker, in the case of the ones I bought they were sold under 'Off Road Town' label. The only downside is their high color temperature.

@crashnburn80 thanks for the response man, this community is great. I'll be trading the KCs up for the DDs, whenever they get back in stock

Yup, they're Nova. They don't try to hide it though I did find out Speed Demon will do over the counter exchanges under their lifetime warranty at any dealer.

I agree on the temp. It would be nice to have something with a lower temperature but when that's the only complaint for a light that's a quarter of the cost you're making off like a bandit IMHO especially in a bind since more small shops are likely to carry cheaper inventory.

I’ll have to find a spot with that type of distance and a better wall. I’ll snap a picture if I can.

Best I could get tonight...unfortunately there is a flood light to the right of the picture.

Probably partially that and partially the parking lot light.

Could absolutely be the fogs. Dang

So is this camera tricks, or is there really that big of a difference between the BD and the DD? Both are SAE right?

It isn’t camera tricks per say, but images taken with separate cameras in separate environments at separate times are not comparable. Way to many changing variables. However by specs the DD lights are far higher intensity than Baja, 2x+.
