Has anyone actually put 33s on their truck?

Thanks. Did you get to test the ST Maxx in the snow, and were able to compare it to the CXT?

 

Honestly I haven't yet, getting to offroad in the snow is a rare pleasure here in Arkansas. I haven't been disappointed at all with the ST Maxx, I chose them on my Taco over the CXT mostly because they are a hair shorter and I was on stock suspension when I bought them.

 

Ahh, cool. They (Maxx) are very popular, and come highly recommended by a lot of people and right now on the top of my list of choices for a skinny 33" tire on my (stock) Pro.

I run a 35x12.5 and a 285/75. There is no such thing as a "true" 33.

Typically people determine rub through the entire suspension cycle in all conditions. Lots of trucks dont rub on their way to the mall but get them offroad and in unique situations, they often rub.

 

Looking for better traction?

 

Fact : even with 265/75r16 (31.6x11.2”) you will have very very mild rubbing (fixed by removing or trimming the mud flaps, or pushing the tire forward with upper arms or alignment). When your suspension is cycling up and down ,with turning through hard bottom outs , you will find that Tacoma-world lied to you. The first sign of delusion is if someone references a “lift” which is allowing for larger tires to be cleared. The aforementioned individual may be elated to find out that in his driveway the 3” lift allowed 33s to “not rub”. In fact he or she may live their entire life without knowing that the gnar gnar tires .... do in fact rub. This ignorance can be attributed to spending ones time on pavement or off roading the truck at slow speeds. Perhaps they live in the midwest , or cold north , and most of the trails lack the rolling woop sections , jumps , and dunes to expose the lie. We can trim and hammer back things to let them 34s clear .... but once the going gets tough... boom , burnt rubber smell.

I digress, yeah man 33x12.5” sweet. Keep them on a 7” wide wheel and they will be much less likely to rip off the bead when you’re sideways. Oh also , you’re going to need full fiberglass fenders and at least +3” wider long travel suspension to tuck them bad boys.


Edit: when I first started posting on Tacoma world I was wondering why so many dudes were running a class 10 buggy tire lol. 33x10.5 / 285/70.... “skinny’s” . It all makes sense now.
