so. me and my buddy went to an abandoned house......it was so rotted out it looked burnt down. everything was a mess. then we saw a door in the back of the house. it led to a garage. inside the garage there was 1953 Ford Victoria. No Rust. No dents. NOTHING it was the straightest body i have ever seen. the only thing that didnt look original was the motor. everything else was PRESTINE. it was a rolling body. the only thing that looked like needed to be done was new tires.

    The interior was perfect.
we opened up the glove box and there was the proof of purchase receipt to a Jessie Ruth Ratcliffe in January 15th, 1954.
i was drooling. and im sure it belongs to someone....and i would never take it (unless its legal/no owner), but man. was this car sexy as hell.

    Pics Coming.

my first instincts are to get the vin and the plate number and see if it has an owner. if the owner is original i would make a bet that He/she isnt living anymore.....so if no owner...means its mine?

I would recommend contacting law enforcement, they can look the car up and see who owns it or if the car was stolen. If nothing shows up, it could end up at auction, or if no one claims it after a certain time frame, it could be given to you. Would depend on the state.

You might want to find out who own's the property the house is sitting on.

but then again i live in a pretty...."un-rural" (is the only word i can think of) area....so to have an abandoned house is pretty odd. so maybe not....we'll see. ill call the local police station tomorrow

Yeah it would be a very good idea to look into it, guy could have passed away and his relatives could possibly not even know its there.

Kind of bizarre that this car is just sitting in an abandoned house that's rotted out. Maybe a guy stole it and put it in there, died shortly after. lol

Keep us updated on this, I certainly would like to know what the hell is going on here.

Also, before you call the police, make sure you weren't trespassing on private property!

so brain is starting to kick in.

now im kinda thinking we shouldnt go to the police and we shouldnt do anything.....

    for two reasons....
One: we could end up getting charged for trespassing if it was private property.
Two: it IS abandoned. and no one lives there. but if someone DOES own the house, we could get charged for breaking and entering....

im not about to get in trouble for something like this....
if we were in like the texas plains or something with no houses for miles.... then it would be a different story... but i live in san diego for gods sake....im sure someone knows about this house

EDIT: yeah derek i realized that during work today

I don't think it's a big deal considering the house is no longer a house, with no locking doors or windows and it's "open". And I'm assuming it didn't have trespassing signs?

Maybe ask one of the Officers on this site and see what they say?

there were no visible no trespassing signs and the house is very open....so maybe it is worth investigating

you could look up the owner on the county tax assessor and see who owns the property by tax records. see if you can find a number and then call them or write them a letter.

    just a thought...

Yeah I would really hate to know that this car could just sit there for many years and rot away into dust and rust. Should be out on the road, or safely parked in someones garage that cares.

PM Tigerfan00 and see what he says, he's not a cop here in CA, but could give some ideas on what to do?

    Pretty much stock
Not sure of your state laws, however I would assume with your state as well to be considered "breaking and entering" the house would have to be occupied. You could be charged with trespassing by the owner, but not by the police unless they had a letter of intent on the property giving them authority to enforce trespassing. If the house is truely abandoned it may already be property of the city/county. Look up GIS information online, with most counties you can put in the address and it will tell you the property owner.
