Hey TW. Went to my local 4x4 shop a few days ago and got quoted for a set of 265/75 KO2's. Will probably pull the trigger on them in the next week or so. The shop offered me $200 for the tires on the truck now. I understand used is used, but these tires only have 500 miles on them. Surely they are worth a little more than that? If that's the best I can get, I'll probably just save them for emergencies.

Just curious if anyone has any insight on what a realistic sale price for these set of tires with the amount of mileage on them now? I literally drive about 6 miles on a normal day to and from work so i'll be surprised if I hit much more than 600 miles by the time i'm ready to buy the 265/75's.

    Thanks!

I'd list them for 600 and see where you go from there. They still have to get mounted and balanced so you gotta take that into consideration.

That's fair. I was actually thinking $500 which I would be happy with. $200 just seemed like a slap in the face for a set of tires that are still good for another 60k miles (there abouts)

200 is a slap in the face. I only put 600 because you know someone will low ball you for 1/2 the price.

People who buy used tires want them cheap. If you want to go through the hassle of selling used tires, go for it.
Personally, I'd take the $200 and be done with it.

Anybody who has sold tires knows they’re a pain in the ass to sell and nobody wants to pay what they’re worth.

Personally I’d either list them for what your minimum is and see if they sell, if that’s $500 or $400, whatever works for you.

I’ll never sell tires and wheels again. I had brand new tires and aftermarket wheels on my 4Runner when I bought it, I think I sold them for $200 after 2 months of Craigslist, including lugs, and I’m almost positive the guy only wanted the tires but was buying both because it was a good deal. In his mind he has to have the tires taken off and remounted on his wheels, and that price on top of mine.

At the end of the day I just wanted that shit out of my garage, would’ve put them on the curb if he didn’t take them.

I was over in Phoenix and seen a "Rent a Tire" store. Anybody know what the hell kind of place rents a tire?

Just curious, what is wrong with the tires that came with the Pro that you need to swap them out?

Never heard of this place till your post. While calling it "rent", looks like a way to get tires/rims and make payments to the shop.

The world sells anything that makes money, and some people rent to own a TV and a lamp, others rent to own tires and wheels.

I don't know I've sold the tires off my 19 TRD OR and my 17 TRD OR, both with less than 500 miles and both only fetched $300-400 max, sure they are worth $800 new but they aren't and they are used tires, most people will hesitate and they are stock oem which most people are gonna want to move away from anyways. I'd say list for $400 and if you get $300 or more you did well.

There are some in FL as well... essentially like renting furniture. Way overpriced rentals for people who have to show the world their stuff but can’t afford it. Same as leasing fancy cars.

I'm not looking for a hassle trying to sell these nor am I expecting for them to cover the price of new tires. But with the low mileage on them now, I figure I could get a few pennies for them. It just felt like $200 was such a low ball with the few miles that are currently on them, so I was just curious what you guys thought a fair price was.

And nothing is wrong with them. They are great tires actually. But like so many others on TW have pointed out, they don't leave much in desire to off road. I live in AR and there are some great trails around this state that I want to take advantage of and some beefier tires will help. Still contemplating going the 285/75 route but there's enough threads on that debate already lol.

I got $50 a piece from the shop for my stock tires with about 1500 miles. Could I have gotten more? Sure. Did I feel like lugging them home, storing them and then dealing with some clowns on Craigslist? No.
I had no use for them so I took the $200 and went on my way.

    Risk/time vs reward:
Is the risk and time worth another $100-$200?

You could always counter off, and see if you can squeak another $50-$100 out of the shop.

This ^ when I sold my OR's this past August with 500 miles getting $300 was after all the constant CL, FB hassle, no shows, etc. If my tire shop had offered me $200 I would have just took it.

It's a tire shop that is going to resell them as used tires. The tire shop is there to make money. $200.00 from a shop that is going to resell them is actually really good.
