My only AR now. Had a Ruger SR556, ended up selling to cover medical bills.

Makes me want to build another AR seeing this. The 9mm on on the bottom is sick. Like the Uzi mag.

Did you add the red and white paint on the safety's I see on a few here?

I have a 12.5" build that I've been using for awhile. Oddly can't find a pic of it in it's current configuration. However, this one was my workhorse for a long time. I kept the optic and sold the rifle. Won a few competitions with it.

I'd like to build an AR rifle, but dont have any more space in my safe. Probably gonna look into more pistols.

Nice, I think that’s what my cousin went with for his smol boi. I’m thinking of going to some kind of scope if I end up not liking my current red dot

Good on you for making sure you have a safe place to lock up the ones you're not currently carrying!
In the future, save up some cash and check local listings like CL. Safes can be had very cheap, if you have the resources(cash, furniture dolly, truck/trailer, manpower, etc) to pickup immediately. Sometimes folks need/want a safe out of the house they are buying/selling. My buddy has found 3 safes like this (he hasn't been looking since we are both fixed up, but I will start the search again once I have cash saved up).

That ACOG has some interesting proportions, what model is that?

TA-33. I've tried them all and liked this one the best. The eye relief on it is what really did it for me. Able to make offhand and awkward angle shots easier, because it's easier to find the reticle. It's a fixed 3x which is enough for me to hit man sized steel out to 500 yards and doesn't slow me down too much on the closer stuff.

Hmm, been looking into lower power fixed and variable power optics for a general purpose carbine, that looks like a serious contender for me.

I'd definitely give it a shot. These are some of the optics I've tried off the top of my head. On the variable side, I've tried:
    • Elcan Specter DR1-4x
    • Nightforce ATACR 1-8x
    • Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x
    • Burris MTAC 1-4x
    • Trijicon AccuPoint 1-4x
Just didn't like messing around with the switching back and forth between powers when you're on a time limit (competing). They are great for hunting scenarios where you have a little more time (sometimes) to make adjustments. Even then, if you are running a SFP scope you have to keep in mind that your drop reticle is only good at a specific power (typically max) so that has to be taken into account on the fly. Or, pay more for a FFP scope and not have to worry about what power you're on, but then have to worry about reticle design to make sure it won't disappear at the lower end of the scopes power.

    Fixed power, I've tried:
    • Aimpoint
    • Eotech
    • Both of the above with a 3x magnifier behind them
    • Vortex SPARC
    • Acog TA31
    • Acog TA11
    • Acog TA33
    • Trijicon MRO
If you are kicking in doors or all of your shots are going to be 50 yards or less, the red dot's and Eotech's can't be beat IMO. However, anything 100 yards and beyond, the magnification helps and speeds things up to make hits. At the sacrifice of being a little slower on the closer stuff.

TA33, IMO, is the best all around AR optic you can buy. It's super light, fast, crazy eye relief (comparable to red dot, but not quite as good), tough as nails, no batteries for illumination, along with a simple and efficient reticle design. Now, I have a whole slew of AR's in the stable with variable optics and fixed red dot's, etc. But, if I could only grab one AR it would be my 12.5" AR equipped with the TA33. The 14.5" AR in that pic with the same optic would have been my go-to until it was replaced, for those that don't want to buy a stamp.

Yeah, I'm looking to make this a very general-purpose carbine. 2/3gun competition, small/medium game hunting and varminting, Appleseed/traditional unsupported marksmanship, and maybe stretching it out to 500-600 yards with a BDC. If there was a company that made outstanding optics with the ACSS reticle I'd be all over it. As it is, I'm going to look into all of the optics you mentioned, as my optics experience is mainly on higher power optics suited for long range or big game hunting applications

For sure, I bought and sold optics like a mad man because I wanted to try them all and see what I liked best. I bought new and used to be able to try them. If you ever have any questions or anything, just hit me up. I'm an avid hunter of just about everything that's in this state and a few other states. And I used to (before kids) compete in 5-10k run-n-gun 2 gun competitions as well as 3 gun competitions.
