When you bring your Glencairn glass camping... I've got to find a better glass that I dont have to worry about breaking. Also it looks pretty dirty but I assure you it's just fingerprints. :eek:20191228_200123.jpg

Im digging OGD BiB, would be a good cheap drinker. I’ll have to see if I can get my ABC to stock it.

Just found a 107 locally at MSRP. I was able to snag the last bottle! It’s crazy what these mom and pop shops keep behind the counter.

Weller (all of them) is very hard to find in OC. I have a lead on a store pick barrel (750 bottle) of W12 for about $85.

Last week I got a bottle of store pick barrel OWA from same place for $60. With the Weller price increases this year, is it worth it to get the W12 at that price? I really like the OWA as is but am thinking about using half the bottle of OWA and 1/3 of W12 to make some 'poor man's pappy'. Keeping the rest of each bottle separate. Thoughts? 1577686146134504675704007561875.jpg

I purchased a bottle, loved it, took a small taste every now and then, had it for over 10 years and didn’t even finish 1/4 of it, brought it to a special party, them yahoos guzzled it down and moved on to whatever else they could find.

It took me awhile to aquire the OWA and W12 but I'll be mixing up a full batch of poor man's pappy. 60/40 is the split I'll be doing.

I think PMP is better than the sum of its parts, but, then again, I don't really find W12 or OWA to be all that great. I think they taste just fine, but I never found either to be notably better than Weller Special Reserve, which I can get cheap anytime I want. I have about half a bottle of PMP left. After having a few pours of OWA and W12, all of mine went towards that. Likely the last PMP I'll ever have, though. Any W12 or OWA I've gotten recently, I've just moved to some of my whiskey buddies at cost or traded for something I like better.

That said, I have a buddy with a handful of different OWA store picks and he absolutely loves some of them. Dude has 100+ bourbons on him and holds two of his OWAs in some of the highest regard among all of those.

My daughter was my good luck charm tonight at the raffle! Scored a Baker's 13 Year Single Barrel. I was a little underwhelmed by the 7 year, but we'll see how this is.
