@BartMaster1234 Japanese car collector trends in 2019.

Here a couple of articles about Japanese antique autos and quality concepts that I think will intersect at some point in your professional career .

    https://www.yahoo.com/autos/no-surprise-japanese-cars-hit-034729618.html

Dr. Deming and Lexus mentioned in this article.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/31/business/young-collectors-japanese-cars.html

Mr. Keebler, Mr. Loh and others believe an important factor underlying that change — and an element in the current surge in Japanese cars’ collectibility — were the theories of an Iowa-born engineer who had been largely ignored in his own country.

Armed with a Ph.D. in mathematical physics, William Edwards Deming, who died in 1993, advocated the use of statistical analysis to improve manufacturing quality and efficiency. Rather than inspect products for defects after they were made, Dr. Deming urged a continual approach. He called for scrutinizing each step of production with the goal of achieving “kaizen,” a Japanese word that refers to the improvement of all processes by involving every employee, from a company’s top ranks to its assembly-line workers.

Dr. Deming’s concepts clicked with Japanese automakers, said Paul Williamsen, the strategic communication manager for Lexus International.

“Back then, we were trying to do what we called lean production,” Mr. Williamsen recalled. “The Deming method focused on quality; when we applied his ideas to our system, they created a truly transformative virtuous circle.”

Today Dr. Deming's quality programs have evolved into Six Sigma and other Total Quality Management (TQM) programs https://variation.com/six-sigma-program/

Other Nissan history. The Datsun 240z was one of the first products brought to market (1969) after the Datsun-Prince Motor Company merger in 1966.

Prince Motor cars were attempting to be Japan's Jaguars as they were marketed to royalty and captains of industry.

New Fairlady Z cars (in 1969) and Skylines utilized performance techniques from Prince engineers more than Datsun counterparts.

The Skylines (now Q60) and current Z cars were very different designs compared to the parent company's econo-box Datsuns.

For a time, Prince products and descendants had to be sold in special Prince Stores in Japan. I can still see connection from the original Prince line in today's Infiniti line up. The Q70L evolved from Prince President. The Q60 and Z car from the Skyline.

The Prince Motor Company was a Japaneseautomobile manufacturer from 1952 until its merger with Nissan in 1966. Prince began as the Tachikawa Aircraft Company, a manufacturer of various airplanes for the Japanese Army in World War II, e.g., the Ki-36, Ki-55 and Ki-74. Tachikawa Aircraft Company was dissolved after the war and the company took the name Fuji Precision Industries. It diversified into automobiles, producing an electric car, the Tama, in 1946, named for the region the company originated in, Tama, using the Ohta series PC/PD platform. The company changed its name to Prince in 1952 to honor Prince Akihito's formal investiture as Crown Prince. In 1954 they changed their name back to Fuji Precision Industries, and in 1961 changed the name back again to Prince Motor Company. In 1966, they became part of Nissan, while the Prince organization remained in existence inside Nissan, as Nissan Prince Store in Japan until Nissan consolidated the Prince dealership network into "Nissan Blue Stage" in 1999.

    The Tachikawa Toyota Connection

Tatsuo Hasegawa (長谷川 龍雄, Hasegawa Tatsuo, February 8, 1916 – April 29, 2008) was a Japanese automotive engineer, and known as the development chief of the first Toyota Corolla. He built the base of the economy cars in Japan through the development of the Corolla and the Toyota Publica.

After graduating, he joined Tachikawa Aircraft Corporation and was related to the development of the Tachikawa Ki-94 in 1943 as the chief designer. The high-altitude interceptor aircraft was designed to intercept the bomber, and proposed to the Imperial Japanese Army. One aircraft was completed in August 1945 but before it flew, the World War II ended.[2]

Before the start of the development, Hasegawa had designed an airfoil based on his theory, and publishing the paper in the scholarly journal of the Japan Society for Aeronautical Sciences (present The Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences) in March, 1942. He named it "TH airfoil theory" after his name (Tatsuo Hasegawa). He used the "TH airfoil" to the Ki-94.

The idea of this theory is very similar to the Supercritical airfoil theory that NASA created later in the 1960s, thus, when NASA lodged the patent application of the airfoil in Japan in 1979, this patent was not admitted to the agency.

One of the early Skylines. The distinctive slant headlights carried forward into later Skyline designs.

Before I get struck down, please do not misunderstand my post and take it as belittling to anything important to anyone. That stuff is important to me as well, and my intent was to show how strong Toyota brotherhood is by using that comparo:D:cool: and to laugh and have a lil fun:rofl:
