Just bought my first new truck 2 days ago. 2010 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport Double Cab Short Bed. Pretty exciting.

Now I'm looking at Over-Bed Racks to haul my kayaks. I've found a few suggestions searching through this forum. Thought I'd collect them and let everyone weigh in.

    T-Rac G2 ($558)
    http://www.tracrac.com/pick-up-trucks/t-rac

    Thule DeWalt Pro 375 ($494)
    http://www.orsracksdirect.com/thule-375-pickup-truck-rack-system.html

    US Rack Rail Truck Rack ($400) 2007 - 2TRA
    http://www.usrack.com/rail_rack.php

    US Rack Paddler's Truck Rack ($400) 2010-TRA
    http://www.usrack.com/paddlers_rack.php

I'm leaning towards US Rack's Paddler version. Any advice is helpful!

I've had the T-rac G2 and I loved it. I hauled a 28ft ladder on it every day and never had any problems. And you could slide the clamps on the bed rails to adjust the distance between them.

The T-Rac G2 definitely looks solid. Guessing mounting it wasn't a problem. I believe it just clamps under the rail system, right?

I won't use mine very often, maybe 10 times a year, so I may save a few bucks and go with one of the $400 options.

I purchased the T-rac G2 from a member here on this board.

Its is very solid. Mounts on the bed and has rail clamps that attach to the Tacoma rail mounts. I did have to remove the bed storage compartments in order to slide the rail mounts on, but I plan on doing some modifications to that later.

I have hauled a ladder & kayak with zero issues.

Thanks for the photo XShark, looks cool. Dog Tired's set up looks pretty bad ace too.

Anyone have a US Rack model they like?

Relentless fab armor, cattleguard on front (useful here, lots of cows and sheep), nerfs for mom and pop, interior and exterior (bed) lights, Dual rack w/ lights, stripped off all the TRD decals, and stripes and painted chrome emblems same color as the truck. Grillcraft black grill w/ black paint in back, elusive elements light bar inside w/ additional lights, old grill cutout, yakima rack mount, better tires.

Way better than it looks on the website, happy as a clam! Click on my pic for my reasons for getting this rack.

those are all good if you want it taller than the cab, for carrying boats or something long, but in my case I already have roof racks, so I fabbed up something that is just taller than the sides of the bed for carrying my cargo box at a level I can actually reach, instead of all the way up on the roof

    That's an awesome idea.
Looks like just some 2" angle stock? Am I right?
That qualifies as a mod IMO.
You should do a short DIY write-up with some close up Pics and post it

Nice Job thinkin' outside the box.
    Ain't us humans great !

Edit: Doh! Shoulda looked at your Build first. Nice Close-Up
