After purchasing some seats from a salvage yard, I recently sprayed some FF on seat slider rails, springs, and seat pan. It helps the sliders move without effort. The only problem I have now is the smell. For the first week, it smelled like raw Pillsbury canned biscuits. Then after the inside heated up on a warm day, I could smell sheep. So be careful about spraying FF on a part where it might get into the cabin if you don't care for the smell. o_O Note the I use it heavily for exterior parts.

I've always used the fluid film spray gun found on Amazon. Im thinking about picking up a HF airless sprayer to spray straight from the gallon bucket

Are you sure it will work with something as thick as Fluid Film?

    Am I sure: No

I've always warmed up the fluid film in the oven before applying to thin it out. I think it'll work

If it works it would be a great system. And if it doesn't work you could always take up house painting as a side job. :D

curious if the FF in the big pail (non rattle cans) can be atomized into a mist?

A couple of things here fluid film is not petroleum based it will not attack rubber parts. If you go to FF site they tell you to wash the frame before application. I have used this stuff for years on farm equipment FF heads came up and said I'll bet we can sell this stuff to the auto market frankly it's a great product I'm in salt country my 2011's frame is still black.

it says it can ruin rubbery undercoating

i have not given it enough time to see if what i have starts peeling or not, probably will not happen overnight
its old and brittle stuff, needs a fresh coat more than likely

Yes, but I wonder why you want to do that. If you blow mist, two third of the stuff will be wasted, as instead hitting the frame it will float away with air. For frame spraying you need small droplets heavy enough to not float away but hit the surface where you are aiming at. Of course if you select to big blobs then you will end up with overspraying in some places - additional waste. Air gun is quite OK for fluid Film NAS (from the gallon can) as long as it is heated and applied at 77 F or more. It will create droplets small enough for uniform cover and will flow to even up on the surface.

So the key to efficiency (minimum waste) is to play with the air pressure and flow rate for perfect droplets - not to big for creating "blobs" and not to small so atomized FF will float away with the air. In both cased (to small or to big droplets) you will still end up with frame well covered, you will just use more FF than you will need (higher cost of application).

perhaps i meant misting inside the doors, rockers, tailgate, maybe other places that roadspray just sits on body panels until i can hose it all off at the wand wash

I understand now . In that case NAS warmed up to 77+F and crank the pressure with air gun. Just prepare for a big mess as the mist will float from every crack and hole.

Confirmed. I did this a few weeks ago at 80 psi and I used 3/4 of the can, which is more than others have reported. I didn't really play with pressures, just turned it on an ran with it. Next time I'll try 50 psi.

"how about FF in inner door panels, doorjams, tailgate etc and its durability to heavy rain, this is a very big concern to keep those from rotting like pretty much everything else regional, especially trucks!
the big rainstorm we had seemed to just wash everything out through the door drain holes but maybe i did not apply it properly, i.e. it was 40-50 degrees out when i got to it.
i still need to check the FF i sprayed on the passenger front wheel well and suspension to see if it its holding, applied at the same temps."

FF will get washed away if it's in an area where there is a direct "power washing' from rain/salt spray and sand blasting from the sand/salt they put on the roads in various states. I don't worry about that. It's the nooks and crannys that count where the spray never reaches like inside the frame. Tacoma frames rust from the inside out. It's easy to get the wand at the local car wash and spray down all the exposed surfaces of salt. Even if they re-use the water and there is salt still in it. It's the places you can't get to with the wand that count. That's how I look at it anyway.

If you apply it inside your doors, hood etc I doubt you'd ever have to do it again. Just check periodically on the doors or tailgate to make sure it hasn't clogged the drain holes because it keeps creeping even on horizontal surfaces.
