The only name brand I’m aware of is Spidertrax, but that’s just from people referring to them on here. I think they’re around 100 dollars a pair.

Surely other people know some more brands. And you probably get what you pay for when you look at prices.

My second pair (2 different vehicles) from USA Wheel Adapters. Outstanding quality. They don't have a pretty powder coat color like Spidertrax but they're less expensive than Spidertrax.

I’ve seen it happen to a Jeep Cherokee. I was sitting at an intersection and the Jeep was coming from the left and turning right. Three quarters of the way through the turn, the wheel came off an his fender came down on it. The tire bounced out hitting the car in front of me. He got out screaming about his “piece of shit spacers”. He was lucky that he didn’t hurt himself or others.

I can appreciate that wheel spacers have failed before. So far this thread is at 3 failures total and that isn't even close to "many" failing. What brand were those 3? Who installed them? Were they torqued properly? Did they even have all of the lug nuts on them? How often did the owners of those 3 trucks check the spacer/wheel torque? It's a pita to pull the wheel just to check spacer lug nut torque - did those 3 people have the concern and patience to do it?

Other than spacer quality there isn't 1 sound reason why a spacer would fail.

I agree. While mechanical failure is possible, the most probable cause is faulty installation.

A pair that was on a vehicle I bought were cracking. Made cheap as possible, wheel stud holes were huge slots. Felt more like pot metal than aluminum. I’m sure I would have noticed if they fell out and started wobbling but, I can see someone who wouldn’t know better to keep driving until a wheel falls off.

I agree completely, I was just saying it is possible and isn’t uncommon.

here’s links to both spidertrax and bora failures just from a google search probably due to improper torque

Wheel spacers do not move the tire forward or backward only out by the amount of spacer. You had to trim because the turning radius of the outside of the tire changed places(scrub radius) not that the tire actually moved forward or backwards.

In or out(closer or away from the hub mounting surface) forward or backward( in front or back of centerline of the wheel well, towards the front or back of the truck) spacers only move the wheel(tire) away from the hub.

So if you put a ruler up against the tire vertically and install the spacer I assure the the two edges of the tire will still be it between the rulers. Meaning the tire is still in the same space it was other than being further from the hub but what you have done increased the track width of the truck meaning it’s turning radius is wider than it was that’s why it rubs it not that the tire itself has moved and no it’s not rocket science you just don’t understand what happens when you increase or decrease track width and how it effects turning radius. Cute drawing though.

Here’s a better example DG. In this picture if you add a wheel spacer I assure the tire will still be between these two lines meaning it has not moved forward or backward. The center of the hub is still in the center. But like a said before you have increased the track width, putting the outside edge further out than it was, while it will seem the tire is further back/forward 6E58F002-D5C3-4CA2-B806-0795C5520526.jpg and causing it to rub it’s because the turning radius has increased.

Yeah, exactly. Because the tire is further forward or back depending on the direction of the turn. You can write whatever the f___ you want lmao

I was just trying to show you the the tire isn’t actually moving out of those lines. The tire(outer edge)is coming in as turn from a wider angle because the radius has changed.

So when I put a lift on my truck, I want the tire to go down, right?
