Thanks! I love my Diamondback. I actually just spent a few hours last night mounting some Yakima tracks and crossbars to it. Not the best pic, but I was working in my small garage during a hail storm. I had to use a heat gun to melt the frozen hail so I could dry out the edges of the cover!

Well same boat, just replaced two of the reds, worked great for about two weeks and now they are dim again. Can't be the ground because I ran two grounds this time and one of them is 12 gauge. Took them out and even with bench testing they are dim. Very odd. Hopefully BD can figure this out, hate the OEM third brake light.

Probably a totally stupid question. . .I live in San Diego and we are supposed to get some nice snow in the local mountains in the next few days. . .my truck is a 4x4 sport model. . .will I need chains? Hopefully not, then I can throw some pics on here.

Does anyone know if this will fit a 2nd gen or how much modification there would be? I know I would have to wire up a bed light separately but thats easy enough. I'm sure the answer lies somewhere in this thread.....but thats a lot of pages to go through.

Not sure you're in the right thread for that question. I would assume you don't need chains, but that also depends, does San Diego allow chains?
There is a separate thread for 2nd gen ones, but he hasn't made any for a little bit now.

Love my Diamondback HD... Best cover ever and I’ve had a bunch of different tonneau covers over the years and with different Tacomas and Tundras. Granted I’ve only had it for a couple of months but I still love it. Working great as we traveled for Thanksgiving

    P.S. Happy Thanksgiving everyone :)

Totally random and probably fruitless question.

I just ordered the stage 1 tail lights from Meso. Now I'm thinking about the 3rd brake light on my Snugtop. And my OCD is worried about the disparity in brightness.

There's no chance this light would replace the Snugtop brake light?

Probably no chance he'd make a model that would fit it I'd assume.

    I'll show myself out lol.

I think saying that you just have to ground it better and it will 100 percent resolve your issue is incorrect. Several people have tried and still have the problem which helps the rest of those with the issue from pulling their brake light and going through the same process if it’s not a 100 percent sure fix. I think the issue was brought up and helpful because some people it is a big deal to be able to have the bed lights come on when the doors open and would not buy the third brake light and do the mod if there is a chance of it happening. I had a 2016 with the third brake light (meso) and it had the same problem, but I bought a 2020 and will not be doing this mod because of my first experience with it I do like having the light on when I open my doors. I LOVE Meso’s stuff I run his interior lights and ultimate turns, he also is amazing with customer service and will continue to buy his stuff.

I *think* I've finally fixed the BD lights interfering with central locking remote and door handle.
TLDR; Run a new positive line to the cargo lights direct to the battery through a relay and fuse. Then pickup the OEM bedight power (from drivers kick panel) to trigger the relay coil. Run a new negative from the lights to chassis. <All seems to be working as designed now>

There was a post in a dash cam thread where someone had tapped into the overhead power for a dash cam install and had a similar problem with the locks that gave me a clue as to what might be going on.

    I'd previously tried :-
    1) Wire with all OEM wiring.
    2) As #1 and add new ground wire.
    3) As #2 and add new positive connected to cargo light dashboard switch.
    4) #3 with Ferrite core (#61 same frequency as key fob).

As soon as I ran the power to the cargo lights through a relay, there for somewhat isolating it from the rest of the constant powered accessories, all started to work as normal.

For me this seems to have fixed the unable to lock/unlock with cargo lights on. If for some reason you want to lock/unlock with brake lights on, this wiring will not fix that.

@MESO correct me if I'm wrong but @dead.fm13 on a youtube interview I heard hex9 is supposed to be out sometime Q1 2020 with a 2nd gen and 4 runner version in development. I know it's not super specific but its somethin :)

This is true. The hurdle has not been the housings/brake light enclosures(those are easy and molding has started) but rather the led pods that will be part of the kit (HEX PODS)
We’ve been through many prototypes and testing and almost there! Here’s some pics of the most recent versions.
There will be RED, WHITE, AMBER, and BD YELLOW(closest to match Baja designs)

Dude you've outdone yourself man. It will definitely be worth the wait for one of these. Is there any chance there will be sort of a blank insert/adaptor for a brake light camera?

Has anyone pulled their factory 3rd brake light from the outside?

Seems a waste to pull the headliner if the Meso light can be installed from the outside
