I have the OR, but if I had it to do all over again, I'd go with the Sport package.

The only thing that the OR offers that is useful is the diff locker. I've rarely used the diff locker... most of the time its just for fun, not because it's necessary. The sport with the 4x4 option will get you in plenty of trouble, the locker simply gets you a little further, but in a lot more trouble...

If you are lifting your truck, you are going to rip off all the crappy OR bits and put on much better components anyways, might as well get the external looks package instead of paying for parts that will eventually hit the garbage can anyways.

    Does Plasti-Dip count as a mod ?
For the money, I figured I'd get the most truck I could afford.
May not need all the OR stuff for a while yet.

It's nice to have it though !

Sport for show, Off Road for go, base mod for those low on dough, and X-Runner... hell no!

I've got Off Road because of it was the most off road capable truck I could buy. If the Jeep Rubicon came as a pick up, I would own it.

Yes the Sport is prettier but I just don't give a rat's ass about pretty. I don't even wash my truck. I'm not a fan of the hood scoop though. It's a non-functional wart that glares in the driver's eyes seemingly regardless of the sun's location.

all stock except sounds. tint, Wet Okoles, Campershell w/Racks
I really wanted the long bed too for hauling loads and construction, and could only get it in trd sport...love it! Except the long wheelbase gets me in a little trouble 4x4ing occasionally, and the hood scoop sucks for seeing over on gnarly 4x4 roads, oh well, still love it:D I've learned to deal with it, and it still gets me into all the 4x4 spots here.

Sport, because I prefer the paint trim, hood scoop, bigger tires and most important the long bed.

For the sport you'll pay mostly for esthetic stuff where with the off road you'll pay for actually usefull stuff.

iunno...1extra foot of bed length has been damn useful for me. Especially when i use the bed extender with it. Now a short cab sport, well thats a little different.

If it were me and I wanted the long bed...I get the SR5 4x4.

Even if you opted for the factory alloys...the JBL/bluetooth...and every option available on the SR5 model...you would still be thousands less than the TRD Sport.

Aren't most guys driving the LB doing so for work or serious hauling? How nice do you need a work/hauler to be?

    The SR5 is already damn nice. Leather wheel w/ audio controlls...back-up camera...6 disc CD...tilt/tele...full power w/ keyless entry...bucket seats...console w/ shifter...

I got the O/R because I use it to go surfing. The locker made me choose in case I got stuck in sand. And I also didn't like the scoop. I researched the hell out of all the options before pulling the trigger. I bought mine used and if it weren't for research, I would have gotten ripped off! Saw about five used trucks with trd o/r stickers but no e locker button! Always research, especially a big investment like a Taco. This forum helped me tremendously in making my choice. I also learned about lowering psi for floating on sand. Amazing!!

Is our steering wheel leather? Compared to the one on our Audi, it feels completely different (the Audi has a much higher quality). Maybe mine is different because it is an 05?

    Scanguage.....i'm working on more lol
I have a 10' DC TRD Sport. I bought it for the long bed vs the short. Had I wanted the short bed I would have went for the O/R though, since I like the locking differential and the other options on the Offroad. The only thing I really like about mine other than the long bed is the color matching.
I haul stuff more than take the truck offroad. My version of offroad is snow driving and bad dirt roads. If I wanted something to take on a trail I would have bought a 2003 or something so I wouldn't be out 25 grand when I rolled it. haha.

The hood scoop or should I say hood bulge on the Buick Grand National is non-function too..... but is does make it looks better than a Regal! LOL ;)

I feel the same way. I don't have a Taco yet, but I've decided on a TRD Sport for those very reasons. I won't be doing any hardcore off-roading. I'm more worried about snow, dirt roads and the occasional field. All of which a TRD Sport with 4x4 and LSD will handle easily. To me, having the extra bed space is worth more than a locker that I'll probably never use. I also thought that the Sport LB drove smoother than the OR, probably due in part to the longer wheelbase.
