I’m running 4.56’s still with the 37’s. It’s not too bad but as soon as I break something and need to open up either diff I’ll jump to 5.29’s. Unless I find a lump of money before then.

Measure any tires and you’ll see none of them measure to what they’re stamped. Usually 0.5-1” smaller. Then take another 1” or so off when under the weight of the truck.

You’ll be fine with the 4.56’s. Last two years with that and 35’s was fine. Never felt under powered or under geared.

    happy new years.

Agreed. I've narrowed down my active threads to primarily this.. my build.. and the Az classifieds. The actual Az BS thread is a joke these days.. didn't even want to post my trip in there.

Good to know. I figured it wouldnt be too much of a difference. Not enough to notice anyways.

Heck I didn’t really notice the power difference jumping to 37’s. Braking performance took a much more noticeable dive.

Yup, braking sucks. I use slotted rotors and hawk pads, new shoes on rear and a brake controller when I tow. All good.

I swapped to 4Runner rotors and calipers as a cheap big brake kit. Brake performance is improved, but there’s more pedal reach than stock. If you don’t have an off road model you can add a tundra master cylinder to help that problem.

New year, new world opened to mods with the quick change hub. Starting with 2.7 and @Roostfactor’s pulley wrap mod.

nice! I already re-geared with 4.56 so I am set there. Wish I went 4.88 but once I get all this stuff sorted out the added power will be welcomed. the 4.56 with an AT and 285's was perfect. Running 315's now and a shit ton heavier.

100% agree that re-gear was one of the best things I have done to the truck

yah agree there. Really wish I could upgrade the master but the electronic master is not happening. Next upgrade you can do on top of that is to add the Wilwood Aero 6 calipers. RR-Racing makes an adapter that pairs up to the T4R brakes. Still have the long pedal issues but def an improvement from the T4R setup. I ran that for a couple years and recently swapped the calipers for the Wilwoods.

I still need to beat back or get some more room in the firewall area. Trimmed 3" off the front and relocated the cab mount. 4+ castor and still got some rub. firewall area should help me.

Did you just hammer the shit out of it?

Folks that did the Ratiotek did you do it yourselves or have someone do it for you? On the fence about tackling it myself or not mainly becuase I have never ripped open a transmission yet.

I was nervous as well. Kel, @mightytacoman has a great write up for this along with the instructions in the kit it is all doable. The worst part for me was just getting your fluid level right once all back together.

There’s an excellent Toyota tech nearby who I decided to let do it for me while I worked on saxophones. I’ll ask him

I used an air ratchet and it took about 10 minutes of actual cutting. The majority of the time was freaking out over the metal shavings and keeping them off the belts.

yah been reading through that and watched the videos etc. Pretty good write up but still got some hesitation. With my luck ill lose something when its all apart. Getting the fluid right seems tricky but not crazy. More worried about messing it up but do want to tackle it myself.
