I spoke with a fella asking about the mountains behind Fillmore Piru area that are covered in snow. He said you can't get up that hi. Damn so close yet so far!

    Thanks for the info.

I tried to go up 33 today. Turned around at the national forest sign after 3 fire trucks and multiple sheriffs past me. Hopefully it will open again tomorrow. Snow line looked close to 4000ft. There should be snow at pine mountain and also above 4500 ft in lockwood valley tomorrow.

A run up the Cuyama trail could be fun, the last half mile is fine mud but should be frozen over.

What and where is the Cuyama Trail? Thanks!

    Ment to type,

    Quatal Canyon

It runs from the 33 all the way up to Mt Pinos, Frazier park area.

Looks like Frazier Park Gorman area will be the place to go. I was hoping there was something closer in the county.

Thanks for the suggestions much appreciated.

We had a great time up off of Quatal canyon today.

Air downed before the mud/snow line.

Only two trucks were in before us.

I pulled over in a open area with a few small hills for the kids to play on, snow was about 10 inches deep.

    critter tracks

The snow melt in the afternoon made the trip back out a little slippery :mudding:

    Hey hey all...

I'm hoping someone can PM me with a good single night camp spot near SLO. Ideally not on the beach (Pismo), but on a cliff overlooking the ocean would be cool... but not necessary. Will be passing through and just need a place to crash for the night. If it can be pretty, that would be awesome.

If you don't have a place (you want to share even via PM, which I'm happy to keep secret :p) but know someone who might... Please @ them)

    Cheers!

Only one I recall in SLO is at the Oceano Dunes SVRA.

@Kwikvette knows of some good cliff beach camping spots if I recall

That area is quite a bit north of me so I'm not terribly familiar with it

    That's Pismo :p

Pismo is fun if you know what you're getting into, but it's far from a nice camping experience...unless you like being woken up all night by people partying and dirt bikes/ATVs driving all around at all hours. The PCH (pacific coast highway) through the Big Sur area has camping throughout...a lot of developed campgrounds but also some first come first serve more remote camping, so I've heard.

Anybody been to Frazier park last weekend?
We are thinking to take the kids this weekend.

Hopefully there are a lot of ice left for the kids to play on.

I heard that Pronghorn is epic right now. Unfortunately, I can't get out there until Friday afternoon.

Are you planning on camping? I can go after work on Friday but Saturday is better.
We are invited to a friends house for homemade Indian food on Friday and I hate to miss out on Indian food....

Cool. I'll go through my gear tonight and see what I need to get ready. Are you bringing your bike?
