Happy New Year everyone! Finished the year off with leg day. Now time to start the New Year with back day!

What's everyone else gonna smash? (beside their other half if you know what I mean).

Yesterday did a max bench just to see where I was at since I haven't been going real heavy and workouts have been hit a miss the last couple months. Did a somewhat disappointing 350 and didn't feel comfortable going any heavier without a spotter, but I half expected it and wasn't too far off from what I would have liked it to be. Finished off with some moderate arm and shoulder work. Tomorrow we'll see where the squats are!

Rest day for me. Trying to recover from @ThunderCookies sadistic squat session. You really have to go to a dark place to make yourself take a 66% squat to RPE9. So. Many. Reps.

Going in for legs right now. Hopefully the gym isn’t crowded with new year new me people already. Going to keep the weight light and get this squat form down.

also living in a beach town and spring break coming up means it’s almost time to start cutting down some calories again and get down to 8-10% BF

I’m too injured to even do that.
God you guys are killing me!

Keeping my fingers crossed I’ll be back to some easy runs on Monday. Weights maybe longer but hopefully soon following :fingerscrossed:

You guys get in a few extra reps for me.

Hope you’re right, but I don’t think so. Maybe 5-10 more lbs. Find out April 11.

Tried the “sit down” thing with squat while working on squats for the past 40 minutes. Lower back is sore. Not in a “I fucked up” way but just like a workout sore. The portion between the lats and ass. I guess I popped my ass out too far ? Or is my lower back just weak and this is why my squats may not feel comfortable ? I worked my way all the way down to 135 on the bar just to go through the motions. Not a ego lifter so I don’t mind starting all the way over at the bottom and working my way up the right way.

It is entirely possible your lower back is weak. Without seeing if your popping out of the hole too soon it's hard to tell if it's a form thing or not though. But you'll definitely work your lower back when squatting if you're doing it right. If you really want to get some motivation (at least I think so, lol) watch some video's of Ed Coan. Now he is true Beast.

It sounds like you’re right then. I wasn’t doing them right before and now that I’m “sitting down”, I feel it a lot more. Time to just do high reps with low weight until i build the strength to increase safely.

Was dropping down much slower as well.

Being sick + holidays has really messed up my training schedule, not to mention my eating schedule. I've lost about 7lbs since getting sick... Pretty sure none of that is muscle though as I am using enhancements, either way I am definitely not gaining like I wanted.

Back to eating big today and I have a random desire to pull a big deadlift at the gym today so I might go a little heavier than what's planned on training.

was in the gym yesterday on New Year's day. Nobody was in there with me, but I fully expect more friends in the gym with me tomorrow after work. Getting some other exercise plans together so that I can be a little flexible but still get a good pump in. At this point sticking to stronglifts5x5 may not be optimal as my tiny gym packs up. I have been doing this plan as a circuit, yes i know, not quite as intended, but it works for my time and my gains so far. but that means I have been taking up 3 barbells at any given time (on DL day it quickly drops to two bars, and on row day I can use DBs instead of a BB, so again 2) and 2 rack stations (gym I workout in has the Rogue I-14 infinity rack so there are 4 racks available at all times).

I am trying to get flexible with my routine now so that I don't get frustrated when i cannot setup as many BBs as I want. Its going to mess with my tracking in the stronglifts app but thats okay. As long as I keep working out.

My last training session on NYE ended up being shit. Got to the gym at 1 and they said "we CF cancelled classes and are closing at 130". So I had to pack 2+ hours into a quick 30 minute circuit that didn't do much but piss me off.

So yeah, I am glad the holidays are over too lol

True. unfortunately, I work with many of these people*** so I will see them day in and day out. Thats the only downside of working out at the work gym. There are so many pros though so I can wait them out.

***So i cant or shouldnt get nasty with them about their gym habits. So I plan to keep my head down and keep working on myself.
