Got my squats in as planned. Went about as expected but not as hoped. lol 435 is where I stopped. Haven't gone over 365 for 3-5 reps in months and that was probably about 2 months or more ago. Was keeping it around 315 then 325 for 3 sets of 5 until about halfway through December. Took off from the 19th till the 30th. Time to start ramping up again. :) Finished with some heavy overhead presses then overhand deads. Feels good to start doing something again to counter all the crap I've eaten! :p

I took some video today just to show how I do squats since I've tried to explain a couple times and wanted to put a visual to the explanation but it appears they are too big and I don't know of another way to post em. :(

videos can't be uploaded to TW directly like photos can, you have to upload it to a video hosting site like youtube or Vimeo and then share the link in a post on TW. Depending on the link, the video will get embedded in your post.

That's what I figured since thats what I've seen others do but figured I'd give it a try just in case. Thanks for the verify.

yeah I don't think TW will accept any size video directly, probably just because they tend to be a lot bigger files and it would bog down the site. You can post gifs on TW though so if you have a way to make a gif (as long as it isn't too big) of your routine you might be able to post that directly.

Looks like it works! :) Welcome to my "gym"! lol This was my 365 set. Posted for explanation of how I set up, walk out and squat. Support provided by: Innov8 fastlift 335 squat shoes, Nordiclifting knee sleeves and a 3 3/4" double prong leather powerlifting belt that I bought used 30 years ago from the guy that helped me get started in powerlifting. :D

Thanks! Hope it helps! That's why I wanted to post a video. Explaining in text doesn't really give you a full picture, just bits and pieces which can lead to other problems if they aren't necessarily correct!

I think ultimately, I have a weak lower back/quads. So getting a perfect form won’t put me in the weight I want to be at. Just gotta put in the work and build the muscle up. Definitely learning a lot from y’all tho

Sucks but it's true. haha I was actually able to "cheat" for a long time by cinching up my belt and using tight knee wraps to accomodate some weaknesses and when things really got heavy I had a squat suit. Strip all that off and the weight drops real quick! Not too mention eventually it catches up with stalled progress and/or injuries because you just can't keep pushing more than you're capable of. The good thing is, once you get that strength, it will stay with you longer and if for some reason you take time off, it will come back faster!

The gloves have to add an extra 15-20% to your max, right?

No, but they add an extra 10-15 degrees to my hands! No heat in my shop and it was 52 and raining today. Steel gets cold! ;)

Decent deadlifts today. I ended up staying with programming weight, figured that's safest since I'm less than 4 weeks out from this comp. 85% 2x2s went real smooth though. Followed that with some real heavy RDLs, my hamstrings are hating me right now.

Got a meet email. 51 lifters, and I’m in the afternoon session. Check ins/weigh ins 11:45 and lifts start at 2. Gunna be interesting having to watch my food and water later in the day since I’m so used to waking up early.

105kg/231.5. Went to bed at 233.5 and woke up at 230 this morning after a piss. The holiday bloat is coming off, just need to maintain where I’m at.

You don’t want a cushion. I’d rather you be standing outside trying to muster up all the saliva in your body and spitting it out or asking me to shave your head to shed the last lb. Got to fill out your weight class :muscleflexing:

I hear you, but is that still the case when he's going to have to run on almost zero food/water for half a day before the 2 hour weigh in?

I'm 2 lbs heavy right now. Don't worry about me, dad. :)
