Stupid 4WD knob right next to the AC knobs

In support, but not against those who don’t like your question, I too feel the knob is located poorly. I have gotten used to it but still occasionally hit the wrong one.

 

Three is already a few started.... and no progress has been made other than copying some jeep handle thingy.

 

Oh...that's actually a bummer because there have been times when i want one.

 

Id rather spend that half second with my eyes on the road instead. Travelling at 75mph equals 110ft per second, add that onto the time it takes the average human to react and move their foot from the gas to brake pedal and you now traveled almost 150ft. It can matter

I hate those controls too, and it's hard to see where the dial is with this little sliver of an indicator.

 

Actually there is a really good grab bar being made. I preordered mine in dec, it looks just like the passenger side

It's not that difficult or dangerous. If it takes you half a second(.5), you're looking for too long. Kinda like shaking it more than twice is playing with it. But I guess we all have our preferences.

 

I wish we still had the second shifter to put into 4WD. I always liked the mechanical feel off it shifting.

 

It's not so much the placement or similarity that got me. It's how easy it is to accidentally switch it into 4wd. I was cleaning and accidentally switched it while wiping down the dash and didn't realize it was in 4wd till after I had backed out of the drive way and began the turn to drive down my street when I realized (too late) that it was binding up. A simple adjustment to the design, such as a push and turn style switch would limit accidental activation.

I just keep mine in 4wd all the time so I don’t wear out the knob.
