    Hello,
Want to upgrade to an O.E.M. Taco bluetooth radio to fit in my '06.
What year(s)/models should I search for in the salvage yards?
    Thanks!

If you decide to go with aftermarket, I bought a Panasonic avh-1500nex. Along with a dash kit, steer wheel control module, bu camera, new front speakers recommended my my installer. All that installed plus tint cost me about a 1k.

I loaded the SiriusXM app on my iPhone, so now I have xm, back up camera, google maps, waze, phone and messaging all through the touchscreen. It does Bluetooth but has a dedicated plug in.

I’ve only had it for a week so I don’t know exactly how to work it all effortlessly. I’ll need to go back and ask my first round of questions.

I’m happy with it, sounds sooo much better, the stock 6x9 magnets are about the size of a soda bottle cap. The dash kit makes it look stock so it isn’t hookie. An option if you decide to go away from stock.

After market is a good option, way more features and options. That's the route I went too.
But sounds like you want an OEM unit?

Some of the classified cars for sale sites have good info on what options were available on different models.

There are plenty of good after market options. OEM is garbage in almost every make/ model. You will get used to the look once you improve and hear the sound of a good aftermarket. The aftermarket single din in my 06' is around a 2012 model and it killed my stock deck in clarity and loudness. The newer ones will still work with steering wheel controls, with the proper equipment. I will post pics of mine tomorrow.

Your stereo is a Pioneer, not a Panasonic.

@12tinker I could be wrong, but I think Bluetooth in OEM headunits didn't come out till 2012...
Will it fit? I have no idea.
Honestly, if you like music, get an aftermarket head unit. Your ears will thank you. If you just want it for handsfree phone calls, you can buy adapters that will be the interface to the radio.

Look up what fits on crutchfield, then find the parts cheaper on other sites. Or you could just use crutchfield..they are pretty great.

I don't believe there is a stock radio with Bluetooth that would fit. At least I didn't find one.

You can add an aux port! And then use a Bluetooth adapter. That's what I did.

I tried installing a newer model OEM tacoma deck in my 2006 and the connections were different in the back. It was not plug and play. Dont remember which year the deck was but probably a 2007-2009.

I think your best bet if you are committed to a stock deck is getting a Bluetooth interface to plug in to the port in the back. I had this think called a Blitz that gave an auxiliary input, then used a $15 Bluetooth dongle that allowed wireless audio from my phone. There may be better options in 2019. (like that $300 Alpine Carplay deck that I just installed)

@EdgemanVA no sir. CDs and changers (if you still have one lol) still work. Just select between disc/aux for changer.

Yeah you can get it cheaper, Crutchfield just made for an easy search.
