Dual Battery, CAI, and SAI

Hey Guys,

I have a 2014 DCSB OR, and am curious what you have done to carry a dual battery and CAI with the SAI pump right there? I have heard about relocation kits for the SAI for adding cold air intakes, but If I put a dual battery in the upper passenger side of the engine bay(a la Off Grid Engineering), where would the SAI relocate to? I have seen where you can put two group 34s side by side, but I am not crazy about losing the cold cranking amps by dropping down to a group 34 my main battery.

I have looked around the forum for examples of this, but I am not having much luck.

Do I need to think about an HP tune to delete the SAI, or what are my other options?

Yeah I'm trying to avoid doubling up like that.. Besides I really would like to stick to a Group 27 which would be too big in this setup, not to mention the weight right there. I haven't seen the SAI relocate in action as offered by aFe so its hard to tell how it would block the 2nd possible battery location..

 

I think either HPTuner SAI delete or you can use a 08-11 ECU, but there are some additional kinks to sort. I have two 34s side by side but going to a 31M. I cut out the floor underneath my rear seats and made a battery box for home/camping stuff.

Off Grid is the way to go in my opinion. See linked instal video at 3:05-7:10 on the video. Same as my 2015. It’s better for weight balance and gives you more room for electrical add one’s like an s-pod, etc. Plus.....SUPER EASY! Just bolt on and go.

 

I agree with you there. I really like the sturdiness of their battery trays, and this is what I am going for. My problem is I also wish to install a Cold Air Intake, and then the SAI pump will be in the way with a battery here. I have dual battery set up currently on both my FJs(with second battery in same location as OGE), but the 2007 and 2009 FJs didn't have the SAI. The Dirty Parts kit was a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the OGE, but their second battery mount is a lot flimsier.

So far it sounds like I either have to put the battery somewhere else, or delete the SAI. I haven't seen any other options.. I see the aFe cold Air Intakes have the SAI relocation, but I haven't seen pictures of one fully mounted, so I am having a hard time picturing how much space will be left.

I would get the Toyota TRD air intake, it has the same footprint as the factory intake and together with the TRD exhaust, sound awesome and is 100% emission compliant too! Add an ARB snorkel and its a bomb proof setup I think.

 

I think the TRD is about the same as afe, more or less.. I already have an afe intake which is why I was looking this way.. Below is TRD, and aFe. Pretty much same design.

 

Is that the 2nd gen TRD intake? I was talking about the 3rd gen Intake. Sorry my bad!
