Apologies in advance if this question has already been asked, but couldn’t find anything in the forum search.

Anyhow, lifted my 2017 Tacoma a few months back 3” and running 295/70/17 and ever since then I would occasionally hear a grinding noise whenever I made too fast or sharp of a turn.

Fast forward to today, and it finally dawned on me that it might be my gears that are grinding and making that noise.

Has anyone else experienced this? And if so did the issue go away after you re-geared your truck?

    Thanks

Have you done a CMC and do you have aftermarket UCA's? Also do you still have a sway bar?

    Too few to list.
Grinding noise on a turn? Most likely your front tires grinding against the plastic or cab mounts.

I Did the CMC and and I do have an SPC UCA. Also thought that maybe the front wheel was rubbing, that might still be a culprit but looking under the well I haven’t seen any evidence of rubbing. That the only reason I might think it’s the gears. Then again I could be completely wrong. That’s why I seeking insight.

I'd clean the plastics and chalk the tires and do some turns to see where it's rubbing.

Shouldn't be any reason your gears are grinding because of a corner. You sure your VSC system isn't out of whack due to the lift? Lifts really seem to mess with all the new electronics in these trucks.

Appreciate all the feedback. I’ll chalk the tires and try that first. Then work my way down the list of other suggestions.

    Thanks guys

It could be one of the traction control systems kicking in if you are making excessively aggressive turns. Do you see any lights flashing on the dash when it happens?

Nope nothing crazy aggressive. Just normal street driving rights and lefts. But I have run into times where traction control kicks in but i just write that off as my stiffer rear leaf springs.

But overall nothing more than your daily street driving.
