    Here are the Tacoma's differential oil recommendations, and filler plug torque specs. The 2008 file covers 2005-2008, and the 2009 file is only for that model year.

    Once it's time for my first oil change, I'll be switching everything except the transmission fluid to Amsoil also.

    where did u print of this differential fluid? the problem amsoil is so damn expensive and hard to find.

    ohhhh... I was thinking about geting amsoil, how many miles u going to put on it before u do any oil change? i have the orginal filer that i ordered from Japan, well a va dealer had 3 Denso filter made in japan part 90915 20004 very hard to come by if i go to amsoil I might not do an oil change until like 7500 miles maybe.

    Who knows, maybe by then Amsoil will have something compatible with the WS fluid toyota uses :)

    I was planning on doing my first oil change at 1500 miles to get rid of the break-in particles that have built up. I'm going to put in Amsoil at that point, probably 0W-30, and then I'm going to do the recommended 5000 mile changes from that point on. You would probably be just fine doing your oil changes at 7500 mile intervals with Amsoil, or any synthetic, but I am a very paranoid person and want my engine to last forever, so that is the only reason I am sticking to the 5000 mile changes.

    That would be great! :) I hope they do! Although, since Toyota made it so difficult to change the transmission fluid since you need special tools and have to follow special procedures, I would be hard pressed to be able to change the fluid out myself. The most I could even hope to change is the fluid in the pan, and I'm not even sure you can fill up the transmission with new fluid without a special piece of equipment. I'd have to take the truck to the dealer and ask them to use my fluid instead of theirs when they fill it up, if they would even allow that.

    Also, for those who may want it, I have a copy of the transmission fill procedure here, but will have to wait until to go to work tomorrow to scan it, and then I will post it.

    Why use amsoil severe gear 75w90 rather than their long life 75w90?
    The severe gear is an EP gear lube. It seems like most of the other lubes people are using like mobil 1 and redline are more like the long life 75W90 (as in not EP gear lubes)?

    I have used Redline 75/90 the past 2 times. Seems to be doing the job like it is supposed to. No complaints here.

    I probably should make a separate thread for this, but I'll place it in here first. I "think" it's time to replace my rear differential oil considering the truck has 103k miles. I have not a clue as to whether the previous owner has performed the sceduled maintainence or not. Which brand/weight do you guys recommend? Some people recommend synthetic, others say the conventional/standard oil. Also do I need to replace any gaskets or anything? Any help would be appreciated!

    TRD Stat, TRD Supercharger, TRD Headers, TRD Cat-back, slight lift.
    I use redline for front, rear diff, manual transmission and transfer case. Change every 30-40k miles, except the front diff. I let that one go longer.

    Do you have to order redline or can it be picked up at a local auto parts store? Also, what weight to use in the rear dif. I have an off-road package and as far as I'm aware I don't have the LSD. It does have the locker obviously considering it's a prerunner.
