    Same question, page 276:

The question wasn't "How much boost can it handle?"
It was "Can it handle 20psi and/or 500hp?"
He responded. Why would anyone assume asking the same question again will illicit a different answer?

Matt’s response to that question was he has no doubts about the bottom end holding 500 horsepower. At no point did he mention 20psi

i don't think boosting this engine will be linear, so I'm unsure how much power 20 psi would push.

I have a feeling it's well over 500hp though, also 500 WHP or 500 crank HP.

Matt posted 10psi at what 425-450 HP I don't remember, it was back when he had them mounted under the cab.

If the 3rd gens are anything like the 2nd it’ll be just fine for anything around the 350-400 hp/tq range. Myself and another member on TW are running near identical setups on our 2nd gens and his truck dyno’d at 351whp, 435tq and he’s a stone throw away over to a neighbouring city so I know I sit around the same power, and even more when I had the rotrex but that power was all up top. I can/have 4wd launch all day long and so far after 4-5 years of abuse I yet to have any broken cv’s axles or any issues at all for that matter. Only concern was trans slip with is solved with a valve body upgrade.

Do you consider head gaskets to be part of the top end? ;) That seems to be an area of weakness for many high compression boosted motors.

Any thoughts for those of us in hot climates then? Where Tacomas are made? What psi might be safe when it's 110°F outside?

Will it handle 20psi? Sure. Because psi is just a number. I can make it run 20psi with retarded ignition and make less power than stock.

But what I think you guys mean is will it handle the maximum power achievable on 20psi?. Probably, which I expect is 500+whp on the powermax twins.

I know it a hard thing to grasp as everything is all about how much psi can it handle? With almost any turbo car.

But try to transform that concept to "how much power can it hold" with whatever psi it takes to make it.

    Think of it this way.

    We made 500hp on 20psi.
    Or
    We made 20psi on 500hp.

When you read it you'll understand!

It’s funny because boost psi is a measurement of resistance. You can pinch off the exhaust and voila you got 20psi. MAF is a much better indicator of power. That all said PSI is just so easy to reference by everyone but usually means nothing.

Yeah thats going to be right where every winch sits. Really needs to come up so the bottom of intercooler is where the top of it is now or a lot of us will have to make some custom piping. FYI.

Straight out of the box if the intercooler sits up top behind the grill that would be ideal for most. I myself plan on running a cbi winch bumper in the near future and however the kit comes I’m not overly worried about relocating the intercooler when the time comes.
below is a pic of how URD mounted their intercooler. It will just be a matter of pipes, different angle couplers and at most fabricate some brackets and relocate the horn and oil cooler etc.
    upload_2020-1-2_21-1-42.jpg

This is my old rotrex setup, had to cut out two 4 diameter holes in the rad support and relocate horns, trans oil cooler. I don’t think we will even have to do this much.
