    Not horrible.
I replaced the bearings in my idler and tensioner pulley. 200k the tensioner itself was still good. Just the 10 dollar bearing

When you set the timing belt up to remove put the timing mark on the crank pulley to point at the bolt on the idler pulley for the belt. That will leave the crank in a spot where there’s no risk of valve contact if the cam sprockets soon (and they like to). Line timing marks on the belt up to the gears and crank sprocket and give we 2 rotations after the tensioner is In.

Well, even with all the maintenance records on the 4R, I'd rather start with fresh shit that I know (hope) is good and then go from there. Next time around I'll replace the bearings for sure.

Even tho the PO kept up on maintenance, it was mainly oil changes so there a bunch of little things that I have found that will need addressing. Like the inner CV boots and the shot XREAS suspension that appears to be leaking at all 4 corners. And the leaking power steering hoses at the reservoir. I'm sure I'll find more as I dig into it. :frusty:

Yeah but shipping from 3 different places was still like $25. I tried to consolidate things to one or two warehouses. Got it down to $17. Still a tad better then the parts stores all said and done I guess.

WD40 straight up liquefies Butyl. What can’t it do?

I resealed the rear quarter window with 3M windo-weld Butyl rope. Was leaking pretty badly.

For the hoses at the res, order new clamps from Toyota and just replace those (do not use worm drive, get oem!)
It’s typically the clamps have just gotten weak over time. Rarely the actual hose

Will do. It has the original clamps there. The upper rad hose has worm clamps and I imagine the lower hose does too. Guess I should replace those as well since I have to pull at least the upper hose off.

Yes. Worm drive will eventually cause a leak. The constant tension clamps are superior

That would be awesome! I haven't found the FSM for the truck yet. I should be diving into it in a couple weeks, waiting for my next 3 day weekend.

Yeah, I think I saw in the records that it was replaced 2 before and there were several upper hoses too which I found kind of odd.

My 99 has a Denso replacement in it that the PO had done at some point. Glad I flushed the green coolant out of it that he had done! Hopefully this one will last a while more. Same with the one in the 4R.
