Yep. That's what that hook is for. We like using a lantern for light. Simple, rechargeable, no wires or anything else. Done. Plus, I like the look of a lantern...the shape. This is a very modern version but it has that shape.

I've got new stuff arriving tomorrow and sometime next week, I believe. I ordered a new ladder for the camper that stows away neatly. Fingers crossed it works for my purpose as it's not originally designed for a camper. I also ordered my rear view camera. Really excited about this. There will be some fun effort getting the monitor mounted. These are two big items for convenience!

Would the stock camera not be easier to use? With your fab skills I dont see how you couldn't make a bracket or something. Then no extra monitor is needed.

I have a 3D printed bracket that I designed to relocate the stock backup cam to my custom bumper. The stock camera can be wired to a switch for on demand viewing but it won't stay on indefinitely. It shuts itself off after a short period to protect the screen from damage. I'll keep the stock backup cam for low level, trailer hitch viewing but the rearview camera will be a standalone system to replace the constant rearview I lose by not being able to see with the mirror.

What are you using as a monitor for the stock camera? Years ago I found a company that made a wire harness for my 13' that took the backup camera screen from my mirror, and switched it to the in dash stereo screen. I did it as trying to back up to a trailer on a 1.5"x1.5" screen is really hard. I have never left the camera on for more then 30 seconds backing up, but the screen is lit up and on whenever my truck is driving so 8+ hrs has happened without it overheating.

That's a pretty cool product. But I need the camera and display on all the time. Can't really do that with this since it will take the whole stereo screen. The camera system I got has a display with it. Larger than I wanted but I think it'll work well

Here's the new ladder! It's a bit hard to fully demonstrate by myself but you'll get the idea.

It seems pretty well made and has a 400lb rating. I'm skeptical of that rating in actual use, though.

    IMG_20200104_154248.jpg
It tucks right up under the flatbed and drops to within a couple of inches of the ground. I wish it were a two step instead of three as that bottom step is useless. But they don't make a two step version that tucks underneath like this.

I'll need a mounting bracket to bolt this to but that shouldn't be too big of a deal. I'd like to get this done asap but that all depends on what kind of mounting bracket I can come up with and whether or not I can cleanly make it in the garage rather than sending it out.

Yup! Boats aren't much different than camper rigs, right? We'll see how it works.

As long as your setup doesn't end up floating away.

Is it possible for you to remove the bottom step, since it just slips inside step #2?

I thought about that and may explore it more but it would take more work than it's worth. An extra step won't kill anyone and it all seems to work well. I'll make final decisions once it's on the truck and we've had some time using it
