That should work in his favor. He will wake up light. Can sip on water all day and most likely make weight. Then has 2 hours to eat. Ideally you should be consuming a big meal about 90min before your workout anyway, so assuming he eats right after weigh in he will be ready to go

Seeing you guys talk about all the noobs and New Year's people clogging up the gyms makes me appreciate my home gym even more.
I have a big house with a big ol' basement, so I'm able to do all my body weight exercises along with my free weights, heavy bag and stationary bike. So far, it's all I've needed and nobody gets in the way.

I guess thats the bright side of me being out of commission right now. By the time I get back to the gym most of the resolutioners will have already lost interest and I won’t have to deal with it lol

I feel like I’m stuck in an 80y/o body lol.

The pain is getting progressively better each day but its still there. I have to be super careful about doing too much because either the breathing or stress causes the inflammation to kick in. Even going for a long walk is problematic.
I’ve been asked to basically do as minimally as I can. So I just sit on my ass all day at work and then go home and sit on the couch, then I go to bed.
I have not been able to work my part time job either.

I was doing OMAD while on Prednisone and cutting back to 2,000 cals a day. But now I’m on an anti-inflammatory that I have to eat with so I eat a meal every 12 hours.

Strict keto now with under 20g of carbs to see if that may help with the inflammation. Also considering stopping dairy too, since thats very pro-inflammatory.

If anyone has any suggestions of things to try please let me know.

Hope you get over it soon, it sounds like it's been an arduous journey so far. I gave up dairy about two years ago and I will never go back - it's been a big improvement without it.

Have you incorporated anything into your diet for the inflammation, such as curcumin or turmeric?

No but a buddy of mine recommended turmeric as well. He had the same condition and it helped him.

I may need to go pick some up. Can’t hurt at this point.

My fiance uses the Gaia brand turmeric for her inflammation. She swears by it. It's expensive in stores, but fairly reasonable on Amazon

When I got runner's knee about two years ago (in both knees), I added it into my diet and I'm confident that it helped reduce the inflammation and allowed me to recover.
    Give it a shot!

What benefits did you get from giving up dairy?
    Tell me about your experience.

Without going into too much detail, my overall health and digestive process improved by leaps and bounds. It took a while for my system to normalize, maybe a few weeks total.

I developed an intolerance to lactose in my 20s to the point where a single glass of milk would have me writhing on the floor in pain a few hours later. Cultured dairy products, such as cheese and sour cream, didn't hurt me as badly but I continued to eat them. After any meal with dairy, I would still feel "heavy" and lethargic. Gas and bloating were pretty much a guarantee, and it took a few years for me to make the connection that dairy was creating all these issues. Hey, think about it - when you're a kid, you consume it every single day and never give it a second thought, so you're conditioned to want it.

Since I've omitted dairy from my diet, I actually forgot how bad I used to feel after meals with it. In short, any and all dairy is simply not compatible with my digestive system and body chemistry, and I'm much better off without it. Some people might be fine with it, but not me.

Mammals were not intended to consume dairy past when we stop breast feeding. So our bodies aren’t really designed to be consuming it. But you are right most people don’t know they have a problem with it until they remove it.

I’m reading/listening to a lot of stuff by Zach Bitter, an elite ultra marathoner, I’m adopting his diet philosophy for my training. He gave up dairy and said he noticed immense differences in post training swelling/water retention and had improved recovery, so he never went back.

I think I may cut dairy out for 30 days and see how I do. I really only consume cheese and butter because of keto anyways so it wouldn’t be much of an effort to just stop those two things.

It will be easy to keep those items off the table, and I have a feeling you will be happy without them in the future. Hope you feel better in the meantime.
