Mario, thank you. I had it done in McAllen at JG auto service. I wanted to get larger tires and that's why I got the leveling kit installed.

I want to give a big shout out to Mario2278. He happens to live in the same city I do. After discussing my problem and going out on a test drive in less than ideal conditions, in his opinion the sound we both heard was coming from the back and not the front as I thought.

Are any of you aware of a spacers that needs to be added to keep the differential aligned. I had a 3.5 front and 1.5 in leveling kit installed yesterday. It is making a humming sound.

 

Hi, I’m new here since I just got a 2019 SR5. Was wondering if anyone is having a hissing or also described as a Darth Vader sound from their AC? I’m in McAllen got my truck in Pharr and wanted to know if anyone has been having this issue and if the dealership has made any repairs. Thank you in advance.

Good morning everyone. This is pretty awesome. The camaraderie of owning a Tacoma is new to me, especially here in the RGV.

My newly bought used 2017 Tacoma does not have that sound, thank God. I guess it would drive me crazy just to figure the cause of the sound. In my case, I think I have a needle bearing issue after I leveled out my truck. I ordered the ECGS bushing and hopefully that will solve my humming sound.

Hello! This is my first Tacoma, had always wanted one and with the RGV heat I’m afraid it’s going to just get louder. Dealership is not wanting to fix and even called Toyota, but they say it’s normal. Problem is the noise is there when AC is on or even heat. I don’t know how a brand new vehicle has a “normal” noise
Just really disappointed, my first truck and first Tacoma

 

I'm just guessing, but have you checked the cabin filter? Maybe something is loose inside the fan area. Sometimes debris gets stuck inside such as leaves and other junk.

 

have you read up on the darth vader sound? i think theres a few fixes or things to say in the 3rd gen forum.

Those knee problems are always the worst. My dad had to get surgery for it.

 

I haven’t but will check , noise is just so annoying.

 

You have 3.5in of lift in the front? That might be a cause. I hear some noises in my tacoma, but even when I had an f250 there were some metal sounds. I think that relatively normal for 4x4, especially if you off road them a bit.
