Is it cray expensive or even possible to get a tacoma to run down a rough trail like a can am x3 or polaris rzr?
    Thanks!

With money nearly anything is possible. What can’t change is the weight, height, and width of the vehicle. But long story short full long travel kit, Kings, and forced induction, sure your taco can rock the desert. Quite a few people out there jumping Tacoma’s... does that mean it’s a good idea? Certainly up to the owner. If it was me I’d just buy a RZR, be much cheaper.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I should get a little more pacific.
I'm just looking to make it ride better over rock, ruts, and small dips in the road or trail.
Not looking to any jumping whatsoever or go fast over woops.
Not to bothered with hp either, although I may install a supercharger at some point. Not at all trying to match a turboed sxs type power.

ok... so a smoother nicer ride yes that not only possible it’s easy. If you’re not looking for added ride height I’d buy someone’s “take off” Pro suspension. Fox and TOYOTA did a very good job with that. If you’re looking for additional height as well, personally I’d do BP-51’s, but there are lots of other options as well but that’d be my choice as very good suspension at a reasonable cost and maintenance schedule. Just my $.02

    Long story short: no.
#1 reason we have a sxs.
Yes you can get the truck to run smoother, faster and/or more comfortable down whoops and rutted out trails. But for the money, a sxs will run circles around any truck for the cost.
I had a mid travel Tacoma and a sxs for this reason
Taco was fun on trails especially with ac or heater and tunes. Sxs was just MORE of everything (minus the ac and heater).

I do have a xpt4, really enjoy it part of the time.
Be nice to be comfortable in all weather conditions and have no dust inside the cab.
And with all the trouble I've had with both my polaris products, and not liking the set up of anything else right now, it's got me thinking with some better suspension this little tacoma could be a good alternative.
At least part of the time.
I'm thinking of a very smooth riding, capable hunting rig that can handle faster off road speeds then your average jeep or pickup.

Get a better sxs then. Polaris makes junk. Sure ita fast and semi-smooth, but the quality is not there. On my 2nd yxz and have never, EVER had a failure. After I brought the safety up (cage and harnesses, fire supression) i realized the Tacoma would never be near it in speed or comfort unless i added another digit to my build cost for the truck lol.

Like I said don't really like any other set ups, closest one is the new honda talon 4-seater live valve. But to make it what I want in a sxs it would cost over $30000. So for right now my rzr is the best option, even though it seems built to break down after every ride.
For some of my off road travel this little tacoma I bought would be great with a better off road suspension set up.

Is there a good suspension company that really knows tacomas?

I did but it looks like pices from different sources. If I was to do this kinda thing I would prefer to buy a complete kit from one company. Is total chaos, the company to use?

Total Chaos has been doing Toyota suspension for about 20 years at this point. I just know it's at least that long because I used to drool over their stuff in the early 2000's when I had my Ranger and first Taco.

For shocks and tuning, AccuTune and Filthy Motorsports are both excellent.

Does accutune make their own shocks?

The total chaos kits are complete with king shocks. All you need to do is the labor of installing it (or having a shop do it)

AccuTune does King and Fox but will custom valve for the application. IMO if you're spending the coin to get 2.5's they're meaningless without the right valving.

Cool thanks guys I will definitely check out both these companies and see where that land to me. Probably broke, but I guess that's part of life if you're buying toys.
