Hey all, this is a long thread and my questions may have been answered at some point but I wanted to check in for recommendations.

I am trying to figure out what lift I want to put on my truck. I was initially going to go with the heavy duty option but wanted some advice in case I can get away with the medium duty option.

I am building a utility trailer to hold my RTT and all my camping and fishing gear (1 man inflatable boats, paddle boards, ice chests, etc.). I have a camper shell on the truck and for work I generally have about 200+lbs of tools in the bed, plus a 4 gallon water port. I don’t off road extensively but when I fish I do so minor off roading from spot to spot (sometimes with the trailer).

Essentially, I don’t want sag in the back when I’m towing but don’t want the ride to be unbearable when I’m driving without the trailer.

Is the heavy duty overkill, or does it make more since for my application? (I may eventually add a front and rear bumper as well)

The HD is great for towing and not that bad just driving around. It’s a little stiff but the truck will handle great.

19 OR, debating on these Black Rhino 18's, I liked the Toyota OEM factory 16" Rim and debating going back and selling this setup. OME Medium lift, rides nice as is but the extra tire weight is indeed noticeable. IMG_20191020_160219.jpg

Hey everyone! Im about to pull the trigger on a OME medium lift kit, and I was wondering if I would need to drop the front diff and the sway bar?
I have a 2018 TRD OR double cab.

Most people do not run the diff drops with this kit. I'm sitting at roughly 2.5" of lift (23" fender to center of hub) with no diff drop and my CV angles are just fine.

Are you asking if you still need your sway bar or the sway bar spacers? I don't have the sway bar spaces and my coils/shocks do not touch the sway bar.

Anyone running 888's with out a winch or a bumper? Would that ruin any components?
I'm thinking of eventually getting a winch, but I don't know when.

Depends on how much lift you are looking for. I don't think it will ruin any of the components but if you run a winch and bumper you will not be anywhere close to 2" of lift with just the 888's. You would need to install some top plate spacers to make up for the weight. You are just better off going to the 886's which have a higher spring rate to support more weight. OME coils in general are on the weaker side when it comes to spring rate. My 887's settled a good amount with only my RCI sliders as additional weight. I ended up installing some 3/8" top plate spacers to get me to where I wanted to be. I regret not going with the 888's at least.(same spring rate as the 887's but 5mm taller which creates additional pre-load)

Here is the specs on the coils straight from @HeadStrong Off-Road website.
    • OME 886: 402mm in height 660 pound spring rate
    • OME 887: 400mm in height 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 888: 405 mm in height 590 pound spring rate

    @TheTacomaInn Thank you so much!

I decided to go with the 888 and the heavy leaf springs. To tell you the truth I'm not sure if I'm ever going to get to install a winch, and if I do, I think I would install a hitch in the front to mount a winch only in trip that I know I would need it.

Are you running factory UCA? Do I need to change mine for this lift?

I think you will be happy with them.

I'm running stock UCAs and they are just fine. However with my stock UCAs they are not able to get my camber to zero or negative. The closest they could get was +.7* which is not a huge deal but should be noted. Also with aftermarket UCAs you will get slightly more down travel. Like I said, I've been running stock UCAs for roughly 15k no issues. I would say though if you have the money UCAs are not a bad idea.

I finally got the lift installed! So far so good...
The guy that installed it told me to get alignment numbers to bring to the alignment shop. Where do I get those numbers?
Is it ok to go with the Toyota factory numbers?

Ok. Need to ask a few questions. I must have read 100’s of post on here but did not find anything related. I own a 2017 sport double cab. No cap or extra weight.
I just put duratracs on it. 265/70/17. I am wanting 2” lift. Planning on 5100s and a AAL.
will the truck look silly with my tires I just bought? To small r will it be ok? If anyone has a pic that would also help a lot. Also, with the lift and tires can I run 1.25” spacers or will I have rub issues?
Any recommendations on what I need also would help.

I would have them get as close to factory alignment spec as possible. The aliment shop should have the spec for your truck. Also like i mentioned before, try and have the camber as close to zero as possible. This will help with how your tires wear.

Its all personal preference, there are a lot of people that run that size tire with 2" lift. I personally felt that when I had my stock tires (265/70/R16) with my 2" lift that it looked a little silly until I got larger tires but the ties you have are larger then stock.

As for the wheel spacers, the reason most people run tire spacers with stock wheels, other than looks, is because when they go to wider tire, the tire rubs on the upper control arm. Since the tires you purchased are the same width (265) as the stock tires, they will not rub on the UCA so wheel spacers are not needed. If you choose to run them anyway you may or may not rub on the cab mount and fender lining. It all depends on your alignment. I doubt you'll have very much rubbing if any since I'm running 285/75/R16 with 1.25" wheel spacers. After several alignments I was able to dial it in to only rub a small spot on the fender liner which I was able to trim. Now I don't rub at all even off-road. I'm sure there are dozens of threads specifically for that tires size on stock sport rims with wheel spacers.

had more rake then i wanted with the 888 coils and medium dakars . took the longest overload out of the pack to get the truck more level . i like it ...a lot softer ride now too.
