Ah! Chalk and Oils kill me; I'd have to wear gloves, lol.

Oil paint is probably my favorite medium. I worked at a Michael's for a short time in high school and was new to painting in general, but wanted to know what it was all about. I got a phone call that I had been laid off before my last shift, so I used my employee discount that night to buy everything I needed, and I'm still using the same paints. My art teacher tried to tell me it has a large learning curve, but I got used to them pretty fast. I find the medium really forgiving, and I'm obsessed with over-blending, so paint staying wet is ideal haha. I've never been good with pastels myself. I end up making mud on the paper

    Cool
I’ve had my art hang in Michaels and have done plumbing work in some as my job.
Gimme sec and I’ll post a pic of one that hung in Texas state capital

That's beautiful! That's a crazy amount of detail; do you use pencil forms or just pastel sticks?

I'm trying to get into framing my own stuff. I've never had my work professionally framed, but I do cross stitches, and they need to be framed to keep crap off of them. I'm working on one now that I plan on framing; it's 16x16 and I bought a 20x20 frame. It'll need to be mounted and pinned, then I was looking at getting a cheap mat cutter and hoping it works out. I dabble in a lot of hobbies, so I can't afford to buy the best of everything.

I think your choice of frame and mat complement the work really nicely

I here ya I’m the king of hobbies and plumber by day.
I bought all my own stuff to matt I was into art shows heavy years ago. I used archival hinges and suspended prints or originals and went from there. Just have to remember to have no fans no static everything clean etc.
Pays off in the end product

Here are all of my current projects I've actually touched this past week. I've been on break from school so I've had more time. Been really nice to paint again; it's been a while. I hope to have more to come.

Oh, and if you have an Instagram, I post all of my art up there, @KBFineArtsStudio

I've got some Taco art too ;)

    Very nice.
I’m trying to build a barndominium atm and really miss my artwork but have gone into furniture and other things that we can use afterwards.
Wife’s health is going down and we’d like to get into stained glass if her hands will hold up

I'm laid up in bed half the time with my health issues. I can't work at the moment, that's why I got into cross stitch; it's something I can do in bed.

Stained glass is expensive to get into, I started it December of 2018 and it's hard work, but you can do some pretty cool stuff. I'm veeeeeery slowly working on making a window for our house. I have a genetic condition that makes my joints really wonky, so it's hard to grip things because my fingers would rather bend backwards into oblivion. That makes stained glass a little difficult, but they have tools that make it a little easier, like pistol gripped glass cutters and the like. The grinding is really tough. I worked for a stained glass studio last year for a couple of months before they were bought out by another company and laid us all off, but it was taxing on the hands for sure to do for 8 hours a day. I enjoy making the patterns and soldering much over grinding, and cutting glass.

If you guys ever need tips on what to buy and where to get things, definitely feel free to let me know!

Health issues suck! Sorry to hear you have to deal with them and hope a satisfactory solution can be found for you soon.

Since you offered, I am looking for some good glass cutters. Any recommendations?

Haven’t painted in years other then a sip and paint with the wife last year. Grew up doing watercolor though. Real love hate with that medium.

Same here; if I'm looking to get a watercolor effect, I usually reach for the gouache. It's not a medium I use often, but every tattoo commission I get, people seem to want a watercolor tattoo, so gouache it is, haha. I admire the amazing things people can achieve with it; especially landscapes

Eh, botched surgery 2 years ago left me with a semi-paralyzed stomach; mix that with my genetic condition, a shit heart, yadda yadda, basically, I'm the oldest 21 year old you'd ever meet, lol.

    https://www.amazon.com/Toyo-Pistol-Grip-Glass-Cutter/dp/B000IGMQ1C

This one's the grand daddy imo; I don't own this one, I have a knock off, and it's not the way to go. It isn't terrible, but nothing is as good as Toyo. Makes cutting with carpal tunnel, or other hand/wrist issues much easier. I also think it's easier for people who are getting into the hobby to control. Just don't fill the basin with cutting oil, dip the blade. Otherwise it'll eat through oil and if you store it sideways you'll never forgive yourself, haha.
