I feel like an idiot. Where do these pieces go on the top rack? (4x)

I’m not seeing any references in the install videos.

They could be spacers to have them level with the cab rac but I could be wrong.

    One Uhhga Duhga :notsure:

Actually, since everything has a lock washer, just tight enough to engage it is fine. I was going to loctite everything but didn't see the need. I figured with being as versatile as it is, unless you know exactly what is going to be mounted to it, why make adjustments or additions harder.

Yesterday I mounted a light bar. All I had to do was remove the fairing crossbar hardware from one side, lift it up, slide the carriage bolts in, and reattach the crossbar.

When I test the light, if the projection is inadequate I'll replace the brackets I used with something better.

Swapped out my Front Runner Slimline II for a Prinsu.

Two totally different animals but the look of the Prinsu and modularity are super impressive.

I got the Prinsu for the camper shell in my office. Just waiting on hardware for my Rhino Tracks.

How do the two compare structural capacity wise?

Allpar.com lists 72 in-lb (6 ft-lb) for 1/4-20 steel bolts in aluminum. Same value if you switch to stainless steel as the aluminum is about same strength of generic stainless hardware. Values are dry threads and lower values should be used if using anti seize or other lubricant.

Personally, that seemed high to me and I torqued everything (top and sides) between 45-50 in-lbs. But then I’m using a $20 Harbor Freight torque wrench so who knows what I’m actually torquing to.

Exactly the same since the m8 roof bolts will give in the sheet metal long before either rack does.

    Apparently it’s a stiffener brace

Hauled a bike and my canoe over 3000 miles last week with zero issues, which is what I expected. The bike carrier is Yakima Front Loader that mounts directly to the Prinsu crossbars. The canoe was secured with some DIY gunwale brackets and standard cam straps. The awning is attached by the Prinsu awning mount.

I don't think they're much different. Same installation type. The Front Runner had thicker rails.
