    Hey guys,

I researched this tire (BFG ATs) prior to installing back in 2017, and the consensus was, no rubbing. Well, as mentioned before on this forum my 2017 TRD rubs when turning on the front mud flaps. It really seems to happen when I turn and encounter a bump, or a simple down hill coast, and then a turn.

There are a lot of guys here with a ton of experience. Any quick fixes other than pulling the flaps? I'd like to keep it pretty much stock without a lift. Would 5100 Bilstiens solve the issue?

    Pic of truck.

Serious answer: 2016 trd sport, same size tire w/ mud flaps, zero rubbing ever. Not sure what's happening
My Friday answer: I cannot even right now. I'm grabbing another beer.

I’ve read if you can find someone who knows alignments on these trucks well they can move things around enough to eliminate the rub and keep you where you should be for caster and camber. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will help out.

A lift will help but I think a lot has to do also with backspacing on the wheels. I did 5100’s and 887 OME coils and run 265 70-17 and still had some rubbbing while at full turn and taking a good size bump. My wheels are -12 backspacing. I have since cut some of the plastic in the wheel well, flattened pinch weld and cmc because I think I will eventually go a little bigger on tires. All good now.

You can cut the front mudflaps or mold them using a heat gun. This thread (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/17-trd-pro-sema-wheels.366951/page-27#post-21909326) shows some good pictures of where the most common spots that rub and someone who cut their flaps to mitigate rubbing. I removed my mudflaps and didn't get any rub prior to installing my wheels and tires. Rekgen mudflaps are a little more flexible and flat but they can rub in really extreme cases or if you add weight in the front. I added in a bumper guard and skid plate and I notice more rubbing when turning left into a hard stop or making a hard left going up a steep hill. It's rare that it happens.

I am planning on upgrading the suspension only to keep the front from dipping so much when I brake and for off road fun. I am also planning on installing new UCAs and take it to a shop that knows how to align lifted Tacomas to see if that helps with the rubbing. In my case even with the weight the rubbing is minor and if I wanted to completely do away with it I just need to remove my mudflaps or mold them with a heat gun to fit the wheel well better.

    Work in progress...
Maybe try cleaning the mud off the mudflap. Looks like that will give you at least an inch more clearance.

    Get thinner aftermarket mud flaps.
