That’s people’s biggest complaint about it, underpowered NA. a turbo and an extra hundred hp makes a world of difference.

Well, I was originally thinking getting there around that time. Buddy at work said that a couple years ago when they went, they got there around 8 and had to wait about an hour to get in. I’m sure it would be silly at any point before the climbing starts. I’m seeing my quickest route throwing down to 44, so I’m guessing that would be inline with your path Ethan.

Preach !!!! This is the same in the states. All those fires out west because they "cant" do controlled burns anymore. Been saying this for years. They used to do a bunch of controlled burns on a yearly rotation here in the Shawnee. Those have all come to a halt as well.

Boy Scout ranch I worked at almost totally burned to the ground if the fire had made it over one more ridge... they wonder why but it has been suppressed from all fires since the early 1900s and they don’t allow scouts to build fires 90% of the time because it is the desert and it could create a fire... this past year they smartened up and encouraged as many scouts to build fires as possible to get rid some of the fuel

This is the fire from base camp before the staff had to evacuate last summer. Glad no scouts were out yet because it would have been bad.A4FEAE43-ECE3-4568-A9AF-851A256607A1.jpg

The US was very much the same way as Australia for most of the last century. It was all out war against any fire no matter the cause and it’s only been fairly recent that people have started to figure out that fire is a good thing when it comes to forest/natural resource management and maybe nature was doing its normal thing.

It’s much more complicated out in the west than just they don’t burn. The biggest issue they are experiencing is that the fire season keeps getting longer and more and more of the budget is being devoted to suppressing fires so once they aren’t in major fire risk they can’t afford to do any preventative management. Then fires get even worse because there is less management being done and then it costs more so even less management gets done. It’s a vicious cycle.

Another major factor contributing to both regions is climate change. The weather patterns are becoming more extreme. Drier summers, colder winters.

And on top of all that I’m not aware of anything on wildland side in Australia that even gets paid. They are like the volunteer fire departments in the states and are struggling with staffing - not to mention there are a lot of guys out there that are working their asses of to protect people for weeks at a time and have no money coming in to their families to even pay bills while they are gone. One of the smart things the states did when they realized they had a wildland fire problem was decide to pay the firefighters to incentivize people to do it.

I could go on and on about this...:anonymous:

The pictures are unreal. Satellite imaging even more so....

I think we can all agree that wildlife management should be left to those who care ... Ie NOT politicians.

Yep one burned about 37000 acres, one was a couple hundred and the last one that made them shut down for the summer was about 2500

Something about the grill styling choice on this third gen just seems odd to me

I’m not sure if it was some kind of vinyl or what. I saw the truck and was fairly confused by it, lol
