Plus my tires are as old as my lift.....6 months old?

 

Skinnies or 285s? I wanted 255s for the lighter weight over most 285s, though it's not all that different

The starter resides in between the V of the engine. It see high heat frequently due to this. Short trip driving style could have contacts wearing out at 75k miles. It's something you do proactively or reactively, but you will do them.

 

Yeah, but 285/75r16 is also considered a 33" even though it's technically not quite that. They're wider though. 255s are the 'skinny' 33s and more of a true 33" tire

 

285s are already skinnies as far as I'm concerned. 12.5" tires are normal width for american truck sizes.

I look at it this way...

you popped for the lift
then the RTT/Bedrack
then the tiregate
then a bumper/winch
and are presently working up a conversion to 4WD

you might as well but guess that can be the last piece of the puzzle.

I'd still go with the 255 variant of 33s

I've noticed a difference when I had cheap but wider tires on my truck vs the newer skinnies. The truck doesn't pull to one side or another on unimproved roads.

My Corvettes on the other hand....I've got Goodyear F1s on the Z and Nitto drag radials on the C4. If the road has a flaw in it, the tire gets sucked right in.
