Congrats, the truck looks awesome! The Tacoma bed mat would be my absolute first purchase, it’s very functional. To beef up the looks and capability of the truck I’d look into some 265/75r16 KO2’s, Duratracs, or Wildpeaks. Have fun and know that while this forum has a lot of great people and great info, it also has an ungodly amount of whiners, do your best to ignore them.

You will love your truck, however there were a few things Toyota didn't get right when they showed you off the lot. I have driven all the Toyota truck variants and some of the smallest things were annoying when I bought my 2019 3rd gen last August. Here are some relatively inexpensive things you can do to improve your Tacoma experience before you go out thrashing it in the wilds.

Glove Box Divider- nothing fits in the open cavern inside the glovebox. This divider makes shelves you can use. Amazon for about $15USD.
Armrest Tray - When you lift the armrest all you have is an open pit. The tray gives a place for your wallet and coins and little odds & ends. Amazon $15USD.
Black Anodized Aluminum Radio Knob Set - The plastic radio knobs are just plain cheap & I hated them. Search this forum for the vendor. $35USD.
Toyota black/chrome Exhaust Tip - I had a white 2nd gen truck and the exhaust stained the paint and was a brute to clean. I bought this for my 3rd gen to help ensure this didn't occur. $70.00USD
Gashole gas cap holder - stops the gas cap from blowing in the wind when your filling your tank. MESO Customs. $20USD
Focal Toyota fit High Fidelity Amp & Speakers - I removed the factory speakers and added an amp and kept the factory head. Amazing sound. Lots of options but expensive. $1200 -1500USD

Up to this point my truck is comfortable and not irritating me.

I must have a Dashcam in todays world so I installed a Thinkware F800 Dashcam- Front & Rear with parking recording. Love it - works great. $450USD

    I highly recommend

Cali Raised Behind Grill Light Bar - sleek hidden behind grill and is very bright on country or back country roads. $200USD
Cali Raised Ditch Lights- Look cool on the truck and light up the ditches or sides. Great in the country for spotting deer in the ditches. $200USD

Tonneau covers are great but something you should plan out for later additions. If you add racks and tents the tonneau cover will be in the garage. Sure adds security to stuff in your truck and if near a snow environment, keeps the box dry and snow free.

Have fun and enjoy the truck.

Thanks for all the add ons!! One this I was happy they pointed out was the exhaust tip already put on the truck. I just order the glove box organizer and the armrest on too! I’ve noticed the dash cams were a big thing with the Tacoma but wasn’t sure why.
The bed liner will be the next purchase but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to bed cover or not but thanks for pointing what would happen if I decided to add racks or camping to the back.

Since August I have used my Dashcam to assist the Police with a potential investigation of a suspicious person trolling farms in the area. I have him on video and his vehicle and plate as he got out to speak to me. He told me he was with the phone company at 830 in the evening. When I asked if he had any ID he said yes he did. When I said, great the police will want it when they arrive. I have him running to his vehicle and burning away at high speed before the police actually did arrive. So much for the phone company story buddy.

I had a person report me to local police for trying to run him off the road on the highway on my commute home one afternoon. The police viewed my Dashcam video and turned around charged him with an unsafe lane change cutting me off and then putting on his brakes after cutting me off on the highway. I avoided the collision and flashed my high beams to show my displeasure. Well that pissed him off and he allowed me to pass and then got behind me with his high beams and tailgated me for 5 miles. They charged him with dangerous driving, following too close, operating with high beams etc etc. The cop threw the book at him with charges. He called the police and my video got me off the hook and he was charged.

I have a moron of a neighbour who runs his hunting dogs behind his truck by my home. His dogs are nice and the last thing I want is to kill his dogs so I collected the 10 plus incidents of me nearly killing his dogs when they run out the ditch infront of my truck and gave them to police who looked after the problem. They would have done nothing if I just told my story. Showing the video of the same type of incident over and over again made the cop understand my problem. The neighbour has so far stopped running his dogs on the road.

Has nothing to do with Tacoma's just protecting your ass. Here is a a compilation of some incidents earlier last year.

Mud flaps will help prevent rock chips along the bottom side of your truck and keep it looking cleaner, got these at weathertech, predrilled, uses the screws that hold you fender flares on.

Lot of people get colored tailgate inserts for the Tacoma imprint on tailgate, I went with red. You can also get blackout kit of the chrome Tacoma on door that fits over it

I just added the weathertech mud flaps and can fully endorse how well they keep the road spray off the side of your truck. Easy install as well.

As others have mentioned, a bed mat is almost a must. You can shop around but i got the best price at my local dealership so might be worth a call to them. And the center console tray and glove box divider make a world of difference (both can be found on Amazon for fairly cheap).

    Gratz on the new truck!!

You only "need" a bed mat. It stops
things and you from sliding in the back. Drive it. The truck is great out of the box.
