Amazon or Dealer

I noticed Amazon has some OEM items for sale to upgrade my Tacoma.

The question: Has anyone seen any issues with OEM parts on Amazon or will it be better to purchase from the Dealer?

If not, I’m I good to purchase from Amazon if it’s an OEM?

Looking to purchase a TRD AT shifter knob, bed mat and black exhaust tip.

 

the stuff i ordered from Amazon comes in the same boxes as at the dealer

 

OEM is OEM... Amazon or ebay.

I just bought a header bed rail and end caps from dealer, ended up about $25 less then Amazon
Ask for 20% off at the dealer, just mention a random salesmen name

i'll use Amazon if i want something fast or if there's a price drop. the couple of parts i've ordered from Amazon are OEM, i recognize the pick labels from Toyota warehouses. go to the dealership if you want to develop a good relationship with your service tech.

 

Why limit yourself to just those two choices? Google search the Part number of what you're looking to buy and you'll find many different online vendors for much much cheaper. Many times these will be from toyota dealers.

 

Amazon takes on average 10% comission or more from sales of auto parts, so whoever is selling it would rather sell It directly to you for some discount rather than giving Amazon all that money.

Some dealers have much better pricing than others too

 

I try to never give Amazon a nickel of my money. My opinion of Bezos is he’s an evil dirt bag. I would rather pay a few extra bucks to some mom and pop shop.

 

I'm all about the best price. Don't give a shit who owns/runs the shop!

 

I would take a look at FB Market Place and Craigslist. I’ve got some great deals on OEM parts and non OEM parts there.

A deal is a deal in my opinion! Doesn’t matter where it’s from.

 

Go with whichever is cheaper. The OEM Toyota stuff on Amazon is the same stuff you'll get at the dealership.

 

Why such Hostility?

 

Every OEM part I've purchased from Amazon (which is quite a bit) or has come direct from an OEM dealer. I purchase from whichever cost less, which is typically Amazon when factoring in the free shipping I receive as an Amazon Prime member.

 

I think some just can't stand to miss an opportunity to use the "F" word.

 

If on Amazon see who’s fulfilling the order, just cause it’s in an oem box doesn’t mean shit on that site and that’s for any of the product found on there.

 

I bought everything from the local dealer parts department until recently when their level of customer service took a dive. Now it's either shipped to my door from Amazon or an internet Toyota dealer. I like supporting local businesses and I don't even mind paying extra but they need to at least pretend to want my business.

 

I have a dealer down the street from me with a half way decent parts department. I've been ordering from there and just picking it up on my way home from work. Their prices have been pretty good.

 

I agree if you build a relationship with the dealer you can get parts at a great price. I use one dealer only, speak to the exact same parts guy, same service writer, same tech. Parts, get them at cost plus 5, service work at internal rates. Last two truck bought at 500 over invoice.
