Most shops around here don't carry anything over 10" for that size. Might have to try an industrial hardware shop this weekend.

not wearing one. using it to hold the breaker on the tensioner. it did snap. got lucky!

 

Sweet Jesus man! I actually use my foot to hold the end of the bar while I wrap the belt around the upper smooth pulley. Chess not checkers right?

 

I used the cross bar from a Yakima rack as an extension if you have any arriving. Thule would work too if it fits. 40-60” bar works like a charm.

 

Cutting that cast iron base down so it’s perfectly square will be the really important part. Also, pay close attention to where the bearing is in that sleeve. You want the belt to ride as centered on the bearing itself as possible.

 

Setup was easy enough. Hoses go out to a tiny Earls 7 row mounted to my crash bar in my lower grille.

Do you think I should drain the oil cooler during my oil changes? All I’d have to do is unscrew one of those 90* fittings. Capacity on my cooler probably isn’t even .5 qt though.

Yea I just realized how big of a PITA it would be to do that. I’d need to take off the plastic lower cover that has 25 screws.

Yep. Just took a step bit drill and went through all the plastic.

Ours are proudly large. We drain ours with every time. Have to.

 

Definitely need longer wrench or pipe to slip over the box end wrench. Had a hell of a time getting those cam gear bolts loose but when you do you will know! When the bolt finally gave way, I thought it broke...I linked two wrenches together and when the bolt gave way, wrenches went flying all over the engine bay so use safety glasses or even a helmet!

I probably won’t be hitting any tracks or drag strips like you guys so I think this should be sufficient and letting the oil sit in the cooler should be fine in my case.

I’m even downsizing my transmission cooler because with a headwind it affects my coolant temp and it’ll start dropping to where where my thermostat closes.

 

I plan on going up a size when I assemble the stroker in the race truck.
