I'm tired of getting hit up for money every god damn day I go somewhere. I earn my shit, why would I just hand it to someone else?

For example, this morning as Im walking into my local 7-Eleven a dude asks me if I can spare money, I say no. On my way out he asks me again. WTF?

Stop harassing me while Im trying to enjoy my delicious iced coffee.

    K venting is over bye

what i'll typically do if im feeling generous and they seem somewhat like theyre really homeless...is go in and buy a bottle of water and a gas station sandwich...

I offer that to them when i leave...if theyre legit...theyll snatch it up so fast you'll forget what kind of sandwhich you bought...

plus then youre not feeding a crack or alcohol addiction directly

It is annoying. I remember one time some guy told me he was homeless and asked if he could have some change for food. "I told him sorry I am home less too, and I just spent my last 10 bucks on some crack." Hell if thier gonna lie to me about being homeless and hungry. lie to them too.

I just hate when they make up some story thats obviously BS...I usually make it a point to give them 10c or something. They're the upscale bums...usually give a really sarcastic thank you.

"I'm a pastor of a church and I need some money for blah blah blah" or "Hey I need gas money my friends left me here and I need money for gas"

Regular bums...the ones that don't run around in a suit with a story...I give them money.

ya... i hate being begged for money. it pisses me off.

however, there was this one time that my wife and i were in the drive thru at a fast food restaraunt at 10pm on xmas eve (thats another story). it was cold and raining and there was this guy stand near the exit of the drive thru accepting money from people driving out. he looked pretty rough and he wasnt actually asking for money, but he gladly took it.

when we got to the window, i called out to him and asked if he was hungry. and he said, "oh yes, i am starving". so we bought him one of the largest burgers the restaraunt sold. he was very greatful and i was happy to help the guy out.

i will never give anyone money, but i will gladly buy them some food if they are hungry.

When I was stationed at Ft. Benning, GA I couldn't go into town (Columbus) without somebody hitting me up. It was always the exact same story verbatim, too: "I ran outta gas and I need some gas money". Do I have "sucker" stamped on my forehead? After a few hundred times I snapped on this dude and started begging him for money. He looked at me like I was fucking crazy. :D

Being a bum is a choice, they can find work. Love thy neighbor God says, but i draw the line at perfectly healthy people making a choice to live that way. So i always hand them the Classifieds and tell them to find a job. They don't like it, but the truth hurts.

Not bad, I actually like to tell the said bum that I don't have any money, but whomever I am with has a whole pocket full of change.

yesterday i was at the santa anita mall in arcadia with some friends and this able-body big cholo (mexican gangster) guy with tattoos all over his face, hands, neck and tear drops at the corner of his eyes, baggy clothing holding a container of some sort came up to me and said "hey homes, help a brotha out with change or a few bucks" i, we(my friends), said no and we were on our way. we were in and out of about 5 different stores and run into this cholo again, the same shit happens! "hey homes, help a brotha out with some change or a few bucks", while saying NO again, im thinking is this guy too doped up to realize that he just asked us 10 minutes ago? and i was also thinking "fuck you, look at yourself, you put yourself in this position, get yourself out by somehow getting a job and making your own damn money!"

this was happening INSIDE an indoor mall not even outside a 7/11 or gas station. people are there to spend money to receive items not just hand it out to lowlifes.

even to those ones in wheels chairs who got their knees shot out for doing stupid shit or was crippled for getting fucked up or damaged goods for taking too many drugs, etc... I DON'T FUCKING FEEL SORRY FOR YOU, LEAVE US ALONE!

though i would help out a war vet who got screwed by the govt. or someone like that.

that's my vent. thanks for reading!

Down on UC we have these bastards hitting up the young, dumb, and 90% of the time drunk crowd. Had a few guys come up to me down there. One said he ran out of gas on the highway with a bunch of tools and needed a ride. I told him "hmm... thats funny... I just came from that highway and nowhere did I see a broken down truck with a trailer full of tools. Fuck off dude." so he follows me to my car and keeps asking me. I finally turned around and told him if he asks me one more time my foot was going to be in his mouth. he backed off
the next one was "hey, Im a pastor for xxx church. Would you like to donate to this cause" i gave him a buck. It seemed legit. The next week, I saw him again hitting up this crowd and said, "hey brotha! hows that cause coming along for ya?" yeah... the crowd about jumped him. :D

    lazy bastards.

I get annoyed by it too, as most of them are full of crap and don't actually need it. I remember 60 Min was tracking this bum that spent the day out pan handling, made like 900 bucks, and then at the end of they day went around the corner to jump in his newer Mercedes. It really sucks because people like that ruin it for people that are legitimately having a hard time, and most people (myself included) find it very hard to try and give someone help when you just can't trust people.

However a few video's that really kind of make you think (at least myself) about how some of these people live and see the world...

this is what i do. I took a guy to mcd's one time and let him get what he wanted.
I never give cash to 'em always food, clothes, supplies, or advice. Me and some of my friends would go make sandwiches or buy the cheap ones at BK, buy bottle water, bring other stuff, load it up in backpacks, and go down to Chattanooga whenever we could to walk around hand out the stuff to people that needed it on the streets and hang out n talk with em. It was actually really cool to hear about their stories and check on 'em every week or so. Wish I was getting to do it this year but school schedule doesn't allow much time for it. Some of the people I've met down there are druggies and make no effort to quit, some are in the recovering process, but most of em were kicked out on the streets because of like down-sizing at work, the flooding in Nashville a few months ago forced alot of people to be on the streets so some of them were trying to make their way to a family or friends house til they got back on their feet. It was def one of the things I've experienced that made me realize how bad some people have it and how blessed I am and that I should use whatever excess cash, clothes, time, or other resources to help others out.

I've done this a few times. You know they are legit when you ask what type of sandwich they'd like, and they say they don't care.

i remember once in hollywood there was a wino with a sign that read "need money for beer" and on the back it said "need money for pizza". when he saw adults in the car, it would have the beer sign and when children were present, he would flip it to the pizza sign. me and some coworkers lol'd and gave him like $5 for being honest. he came back a few minutes later with a 4 pack of tallboys.
