I must be strange, I like pretty much all beans. And corn and beans in my chili. But ground turkey no, just no.

I love my grillgrates and have them for the Jumbo Joe, 22" kettle and Genesis. So thought about getting a set for the Lowes Pit Boss 456. Apparently 4 15" panels fit it perfectly. But been playing around with what I have and will stick with those.

Was hoping they would help even out the heat on it like my other grills but apparently not. Which is OK they still have their uses. And may work better with a pellet grill with the firepot in the center.

Over the firepot for searing with heat diffuser sear plate open the ridges are more than 150° hotter than the factory grate. Using the JJ GG without the center plate and 2 panels.

Sausage patties at 250° on hot end hoping the cooler end would get hotter but it didn't. With bacon wrapped sweet onion filled with butter and brown sugar.

    GG sausage burgers.jpg

But still turned outstanding. As did boneless skinless chicken thighs at 250°. Toward the end turned it up to 300° and worked very well.

Today did some brats and cheddarwurst with the GG from the 22" kettle. Running East to West it fits well. Smoked for an hour at 250° with onions and red pepper

Then turned up to 400° to finish

Still learning but it is working out most excellent

Think I'm going to do some ribs in it tomorrow, without the GG. But need to run into town and pick up some more pellets if I do. Haven't even shoveled off the deck to the other grills and smoker yet since I got this thing.

I think the GG site says to only replace 1/2 the grates with GG on a pellet grill. Something about air flow.

Have to admit I am starting to think those fire starter cubes I have will last awhile now. At least during the winter. Walk out plug it in and turn on the power. In fact left it plugged in from today so just need to fill the hopper and hit the power button tomorrow if I use it :anonymous:
