I'm having trouble wiring up my 32 inch Ridgid Industries light bar on my 2016 SR5 Tacoma. Anyone have a video or detailed instructions on how to get the wiring through the rubber grommet on the firewall? That's pretty much the only thing that has stopped me from finishing the install. I've tried fishing the wires through the grommet with a wire hanger or zip tie but it seemed like it's not going anywhere.

Picture attached shows the red, blue and black wire harness I'm trying to feed through the firewall.

I popped a hole in that bish with the same hanger I was fishing the wire through with. Might come back to bite me, but we'll see.

I used a large wide tip flat head screw driver. taped the wires to it (stagger them some so its not as wide as the tip) behind the tip and just force it thru the boot.

Use some electrical tape and tape the wires to the hanger. Then push through the grommet.

Someone at work had mentioned something like that to me but I don't want to have an extra remote laying around. Knowing myself I'll lose it after a week.

Spit on it first, don’t put it in dry!

I used the technique mention with the flat head screwdriver.

Makes it so much easier to pull and there’s less risk of either tearing the grommet or pulling the grommet with the wire

I just completed an led bar install on my truck a couple hours ago. I stabbed a flathead screwdriver through the grommet and used a razor blade to make the hole bigger. Ran the wires thru with no issues.

There should be another unused grommet behind your brake booster. Pop that out, and unfold it. Cut out the center plug and put a small "X" cut in it. then fish you wires through there.

When you go to feed the wires into the cabin, it may be easier to feed the wires through the grommet, out in the open first. Once they are through, feed them through the firewall. Then push the grommet down over the wire and push the grommet into place in the firewall opening.

I used an electricians fish tape and electrical tape to tape the wires to the fish tape. Staggered as mentioned in other responses. I ran it through the same hole as the hood release cable.

If you feel inside the grommet it's double layered you have to take a razor and cut a whole on both sides and use a solid hanger. Iv done a few wires already on my 19 Tacoma and then being 0 gauge wires so can't mess around.

after 10 mins of trying and zero progress that’s what I did as well. I just cut a small slit just big enough for the wires. No worries.

Bah! That's like $12 on Amazon. I'd rather just jam random sharp metal objects into my wiring harness.
