Hmmm, I guess I'm just getting old, but I don't miss getting out in the cold, rain, mud, etc. and over the years over had numerous trucks and SUVs that have proven the not-so new technology reliable.

I once drowned a Previa Van driving down a freshly flooded street. Sucked water into the engine. No water got inside but they still totaled it.

I'll have an update today. They told me it might not have an answer until the 2nd due to the holiday.

Well. They gave me the news I was looking for. This is a warranty issue but they dont have the parts in stiock and have to order them. They don't have a time frame for when they'll be in.

I had an internal failure of the of the 4WD control ECU.

Glad they are working it, hope they get it fixed.

I am going to say I bet they are wrong...

    Good Luck

Bad actuator (either front or rear) I would put at 10x more likely than the ECU... But if they are working on it they should get it fixed, even if I am right and they are throwing parts at it. Just means a little more time for them to throw a few more parts at it.

Techstream does alot of the diagnostic work, if the dealer used it, so hopefully that is what they did.

I'm thinking it the actuator too. Everything I have read points to the actuator. But if the ECU isn't telling the actuator to move then it's the ECU.

I stand corrected, it 100% appears they did the due diligence in troubleshooting.

I believe stored code indicated that the ecu detected front diff or transfer actuator circuits shorted to ground.

That could occur in ECU, actuators, or wiring.

They checked actuator and wiring at the ECU connector for shorts and found none. Therefore they conclude its the ECU.

Reasonable troubleshooting I think. It's possible you have an intermittent short they didnt find. If so may end up with problem coming back and it being found to be wiring or actuators in future, but they appear to be logically working the problem per the repair manual.

Seems like a good dealer, I recommend giving them benefit of the doubt if the problem reoccurs.

i had the same issue and had only 200 miles on dashboard they replaced the ECU only it's just a communication problem you should not get charged if your vehicle is still under warranty and now everything is working normal
