Why do people on this forum try to hide their licence plates in pictures?

And let’s be real, the chances of anyone here seeing my license plate that’s only on the BACK of my truck (no lecture about no front plate please, millions do it), it’s unlikely.

I see at least 25 Tacoma’s on the road any given day on my 30min commute to work, and thousands more I don’t see.

Plus I don’t live in a tiny town with very specific landmarks I snap shots of my truck next too or something aha

I’m MUCH more worried about crazy ex’s than a dude on TW lol.

I was a member of a flyfishing forum that had an offtopic forum that was 99% political arguments (it sucked and I'm glad that shit is heavily enforced here). A couple of specific members (a liberal from TN and a conservative from PA) would get into it quite a bit.

The wife of the TN guy started getting messages on facebook from a woman named Lindsey. Lindsey was telling this guy's wife that she's been sleeping with her husband at various places and could name the local places where she's met him, where they went to dinner and where they hooked up and even sometimes when. His wife got very upset and they went through a very hard time. Eventually the TN dude was able to find out that Lindsey was the conservative in PA (I don't recall how... there might have been some emails that were able to be traced back to a town in PA). He had the PA local police go to the guys house and I think maybe even brought him up on charges (not sure what the charges were... the guy from TN was a lawyer).

The guy from TN gave enough information on the forum so that the PA douche could locate him and his family and f with him. Granted... the TN dude was a major dick to the PA guy (and vice versa)... but not enough to try and wreck the guy's marriage.

The moral of this tale is that if you're going to be a huge dick online, don't give people information that can link to your real identity because if you f with the wrong douche, they'll do douchy things back to you.

For example, I called in Amber Alerts on every license plate in this thread.

 

As someone who's had people absolutely flip shit at him after being "busted" taking pictures of vehicles of car shows, I black out license plates (and often tell vehicle owners I'm doing so) to appease potentially angry and overly paranoid vehicle owners. I even black out my own license plate because I don't want people running my it!

If I had my way, my license would flip up and out of sight whenever my truck was parked, so cop and meter maids couldn't run it without me present!
